Hi everyone.

The SDTC's Executive Committee gathered at the pastoral home of Creed
and Jenné McPherson for a wonderful, intimate planning party last
Sunday, complete with volleyball, swimming and bocce ball. (You too can
be on the Executive Committee--all you have to do is show up.) Before
feasting on burgers and sides, we discovered that Creed makes superb
lemonade; afterward we learned firsthand that Jenné makes killer
brownies. Kirk and Trudie completed the evening with photos of their
Natchez Trace tour.

The main business we discussed had to do with the SDTC rally and what to
do about a new location. Tony and I proposed piggybacking on a regional
rally that Ed Llorca of the MASCOTS is planning for Columbus Day weekend
in Buellton. Ed had approached us about cosponsoring the regional rally
and lending our name to the event to help with insurance. The consensus,
however, was that Ed should look into the options provided by the
Bicycle Ride Directors Association of America first and that we should
continue with plans for our own rally as well.

The date for the SDTC rally has been set for August 29--the third Sunday
of that month. Creed suggested looking into the possibility of starting
the rally at one of the group campsites at San Elijo, which would give
us a dedicated place for the lunch and activities after the ride. If
that doesn't work out, we'll likely return to Mission Bay this year.
Jeannie and Jerry Davis agreed to take the lead in planning the rally.

Here is the ride schedule for the next few months. Please note that we
still need a leader for August 15.

Independence Day.
