This coming October, I will be participating in the Ride for the Roses, a fundraising event for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Cancer really hit home this past two years. My friend, Sarah, passed away after battling Breast Cancer for 13 years. She was my first boss, my mentor and my sounding board for all the outrageous ideas I’ve had over the years. I really miss her and wish that there was something more I could have done for her. A close friend of mine, Jason, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer this past year. He has since gone through a mastectomy, months of Chemotherapy and a ton of medication. Although he is now in excellent condition with a very slim probability of recurrence, seeing him go through the process made me wish that I could do more for him.
Well, I don’t have the brains to find a cure or to discover that magic pill. But I know how to ride a bike and ask people for money. This ride is my way of helping out a community that is dedicated to finding a cure, making those who are battling cancer more comfortable and giving hope to the rest of us.
I’m sure there’s a Sarah or a Jason in your life. Help me honor their memories and support their survivorship with a donation. A goal for any father is to make this world a better place for their children. I don’t want my son Brandon to lose a Sarah in his lifetime, or to feel the pain Jason endured in his fight.
