Dear SDTC member and list-lurkers:

 

On Sunday, 8/23, nine teams went for a ride.

 

The ride left from Mission Bay Park and went north to Solana Beach before returning down the coast and through UCSD.

 

After the ride Dennis and Cindy hosted a Mexican Potluck at their lovely home.

 

Twelve tandem teams were present.*

 

After eating some great food, the subject of the future of tandem cycling in San Diego came up. A thorough discussion focused on the benefits of a traditional club (as we have now) or a non-structured group of individuals. The latter was the preference of the majority of those that voted, and it was decided to give that approach a try, focusing on riding and fun, and of course eating after the rides. No bylaws. No officers. No dues, no rosters.

 

Rich, Jim and Sam volunteered to try and get something up and running. A name was selected - San Diego Tandem Riderz - STARZ.

You should receive an invitation to join this new group by Tuesday. You can join immediately by going to the group (see above) or sending an email from the address at which you want to receive emails to Tandem-STARZ-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

 

The goals are ambitious.

To enhance tandemming in San Diego we need your help and participation. Right now we want to expand our list of rides. If you have a favorite ride, create it on www.bikely.com or document it and send it to me - rich@.... BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, WE WANT YOU TO RIDE YOUR TANDEM WITH OTHER TANDEMS. Find a ride on the calendar that meets your needs and come join in the fun.

 

We are just getting started, so please be patient. Hang with your fellow tandemists. This will one great, fun ride.
