Everyone,
This Sunday, the 10th of May, Team JJ will lead a ride starting from De Anza
Cove in Mission Bay. Our intent is to honor all of the mother's among us, and
those who are not. We'll meet about 8:45 for a 9-ish roll-out. We'll revisit a
previous ride from January that seemed to be enjoyed by all who rode it. We'll
go through the Rose Canyon bike trail, up Gilman Dr. to UCSD, Genesee to I-5,
which has been greatly modified and improved, to Sorrento Valley and west to the
coast. We'll take in that great, dense sea air before we climb Torrey Pines
hill. We'll come back on Gilman Dr., which seems very different from climbing
it, ride through the Rose Canyon bike path and around the other side of Mission
Bay back to De Anza. The mileage will be around 35. Hopefully the weather will
be warm and beautiful, so it promises to be a perfect day for a ride! Hope we'll
see you there. And please, take a moment to call or email if you plan to come
out and ride! We'd love to see you! Bring snacks, as Mother's Day is notorious
for filling restaurants to capacity, especially brunches.
Directions to De Anza Cove, Mission Bay:
Get to I-5 from wherever you are - from 5 south: take the Balboa/Garnet Ave.
exit. Go through the intersection and merge onto Mission Bay Dr. At the stop
sign, go straight through into the parking lot and park at the north end, or
turn right at the stop sign, then turn left onto De Anza Rd. and park at the
south end of that lot. Either way, look for tandems.
From I-5 north: take the Clairemont Dr. exit toward Mission Bay Dr. Turn left at
Clairemont Dr., than right onto N. Mission Bay Dr. Go until you reach a stop
sign, at which time you can turn left into the parking lot and park at the north
end, or continue and turn left onto De Anza Rd, then turn left into that parking
lot and park at the south end of the lot. Look for tandems.
