As Jeannie said in her e-mail, next Sunday, March 29, Team JJ will be leading a ride, followed by a planning meeting.
What she didn't say was that this will be a more important meeting than usual. The board has decided to step down, effective June 1 (to allow time for the transition). So in addition to doing ride planning, we will be opening nominations for all positions and discussing how to pass the baton. If we wind up with more than one nominee for any position, we’ll have to have an election.
FWIW, Tony and I had first floated the idea of resigning to a few members several months ago, after dealing with his broken ankle, followed by a series of crises (e.g., some of you know that my best friend almost died last fall, and Tony’s business took a serious hit when the economy crashed). But we were strenuously asked to try to stay on a while longer, so we acquiesced. We’ve reached the point where we have so many competing demands on our time now, though, that we really feel it’s time to step aside so we can devote the attention we need to other priorities in our lives. Jeannie and Kerry have decided to resign as secretary and VP as well.
It’s been a pleasure keeping things rolling for the past eight years.
Sarah (and Tony, Jeannie and Kerry)
