Everyone,

Team JJ will lead a ride on Sunday, October 12, from the back of the
pack, starting at 10:00 from Perry's Restaurant parking lot at the
intersection of Pacific Highway and Rosecrans. The lot is easily
accessed from the north end on Pacific Highway. The ride will be in
the vicinity of 30-35 miles of breezy coastal fresh air, heading
north. We will ride through Mission Bay, past De Anza Cove to the
bike path at the north end. We'll pop out on East Mission Bay drive,
which we'll cross over to get to Santa Fe St. which we'll take north.
By riding through the Rose Canyon bike path, we'll end up at the foot
of Gilman Drive which we'll take up to the university and on out to
Genesee Ave. From there we'll head north on Genesee and exit onto the
I-5 freeway for a short distance until we exit at Sorrento Valley Rd.
From there we ride through Sorrento Valley until we get to the really
scenic section that is blocked from vehicular use. As we ride that
road, we are privy to the beauty of the marshy areas and the
beautiful cliffs of Torrey Pines Rd. We'll pop out at Carmel Valley
Rd. where we'll head west and wind our way to the intersection of
Torrey Pines Rd. going south and Camino del Mar going north. We'll
head south onto Torry Pines Rd., climb the hill and head on back the
way we came.

We'll have trip tics at the start, and possibly available earlier
through email. The heat wave should have receded by then, tempering
warm air with cool, fresh ocean breezes.

Again, because of time contraints that morning, our ride will start
later than usual at 10:00. Bring snacks and sufficient food to tide
you over until we finish, as there are very few opportunities for
lunch stops. However, we are open to all ideas concerning lunch, so
if you know of a place, feel free to throw it out there.

Hope you can make it, those of you who are not going to Italy. It
promsises to be a great ride, worthy of a Sunday morning!

Directions to Perry's from I-5 South:
Take the Sea World Dr. exit from I-5, turn right at the light and get
into the left lane ASAP. Turn left onto Pacific Hwy. at the next
light after that one. Take Pacific Hwy. for about a mile, then turn
right into Perry's parking lot before you reach the upcoming
intersection, which is Rosecrans.

Directions from I-5 north:
Take the India St. exit until you get to Washington St. - turn left
(west) onto Washington and then turn right onto Pacific Highway. Take
Pacific Highway to the intersection of Rosecrans going west and
Taylor St. going east. Go through the intersection and turn left into
Perry's parking lot. Perry's is on the corner of Rosecrans and
Pacific Hwy.
