John, Good luck with the pole vaulting. My training is keeping me a
bit closer to the ground. Right now, by the way, I am weight lifting
four times per week, running three times, cycling twice and swimming
once. My weight lifing routine is as follows:
Mondays: Arms and Abs
Tuesday: Legs
Thursdays: Chest and Back
Fridays: Shoulders and Abs
On my arms day I work in the chin up and dip. During the "normal"
sets I am overweighting quite a bit, about 80 extra pounds for both.
Then at the very end, I simulate the STREND sequence, but with 25
extra pounds. Last week I did 27 chins and 38 dips with 25 extra
pounds. I do the same sort of routine on chest and back day where I
work in the bench press followed by the wide pullup. As we get
closer to the actual competition I will move away from the heavier
weights and work on strend specific sequences. Talk with you later.
