I'm just a girl, but what helped me go from zero to six pullups was to
concentrate on the negative. I'd get myself into the top part of the pullup
(jump, climb, get assistance up, whatever), and hold it as long as I could. I
would then lower myself as slow as I could. Take about 60 sec break, repeat
until I couldn't hold myself up at all. I alternate this w/ assisted pullups
(either using a bar so I am at 60 degrees, or the assistance machine). For
instance, regular pullups on Monday, negative pullups on Thursday. Working on
getting up to 10+ right now!
BTW, Matt (or anyone), will there be a CA competition this year?

Maybe someone here can help. I have been lifting for the better part of 10
years, and consider myself pretty fit. Nothing like you guys going for the
pull up record however this is where i am asking for help. No matter how
much i train. how fit i get, i still cant do more than 6 or 8 pull ups. any
suggestions? Thanks for your help. And good luck to those of you who are
going for the world record!
