I have around 20 girls interested in playing in this league this fall at my
school (Ladue High school) but I'm not sure how to teach them or how to get into
the league and play games against other teams. Do guys know what i should do?

I know this is attempt# 3 in forming some type
of collective St. Louis Youth team, but...
With the high level of participation in Summer League by High School teams, I
figured I would try again this fall.
Last year I took a few players to MLC in Jeff City and I really think it was
beneficial for them to play some ultimate at a higher level than they were used
to. They won one game and played very tight with Luther's A team (09 Nationals
Team).
I know alot of people do sports in the fall, so I am not sure what type of
interest level there would be around the area. The plan was to practice one day
a week and then go to one or two tournaments, Harvest Moon and MLC. The plan
can flux up or down based on the players.
If you are interested in playing (or coaching), please contact me at SLUHultimate@....

I cannot even begin to explain how much fun the Harvest Moon tournament is. I
went for four years in a row during my college career at Rolla and I loved every
bit of it. Sending a junior team would really help the players gain valuable
experience and have a blast at the same time. I cannot stress enough how
important it is to have a team costume for this tournament. Although not ever
team wears a costume, the teams that do are the teams that are remembered. When
I went we wore prisoner costumes, school girl outfits, and one year, we wen as
SLUT, the SLU team...but we were from Rolla. Other costumes I've seen are
baseball players, construction workers, pirates, ninjas, and clowns. It really
doesn't matter what you go as, just create a team costume and go. If you the
STL region sends a team this year, I'll suggest going as a Harry Potter themed
team or dressed as superheroes. Good luck and disc up!

I forgot to ask yesterday at the all-star game but my friends from mizzou have
been asking me to find out if there are any St Louis ultimate players that plan
on going to University of Missouri-Columbia. The "MUtants" are a fairly
competitive team but are losing some experienced players next year. Coaches or
players if you or any of your teammates are going to mizzou let the captain Paul
Adkisson know at spagf8@...
Let me first say that as a graduate and Former Player for DeSmet,
congratulations gentlemen on winning the state championship for the second year
in a row. Great job.
Secondly, next fall i will be moving to KC and teaching at Rockhurst high
school and was hoping to recreate the Ultimate team there. I guess what i need
is some suggestions on how to start a high school program, recruit, etc. if
anyone would like to help me out please email me stili87@.... Thanks alot
and i hope to bring some competition from across the state next year.

Please remind your players to register for summer league. Summer league is a
great opportunity for players to improve their game, connect with the rest of
the St. Louis ultimate community, and have a really good time playing ultimate.
This year there are several options for players depending on their level of
skill and interest. The recreational league is full but there are spots left in
both the Thursday night Competitive Co-ed league and the Wednesday night Open
league.
The Wednesday night open league is probably the best choice for players looking
to improve their game. There are 2 options for the Wednesday night league this
year. The Select League is for better players who are looking to play against
top notch competition. It will be a very competitive group of players and not
everyone will be accepted but it will probably be the best way to improve,
learn, and grow as individuals. The other open league accepts anyone and you can
sign up as a group. This would be a great way for younger players to play
together and work on chemistry.
Either way, please encourage your players to sign up.
All the information is on the SLUA website (www.slua.org ) under summer league.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. There are only a few days left so
hurry!
