You with the flexible work schedule:
Marquette High School is entering the Spring HS league
and has asked for a clinic. They have reserved a field
on their campus for 3:00 on Thursday January 12th
(this week) and I'm looking for experienced players to
volunteer an hour of your time to get these guys
started on the right foot. It should be 57 degrees or
hotter.
Marquette is in the Rockwood School District and is
located on Clarkson Rd. south of Highway 40/I-64,
north of Clayton. The fields are around back of the
school. They expect to have 14 players show up. A
couple of them were in our Fall league and are pretty
good players--good enough for Jack Curran to offer to
help them.
If you can make it, bring discs, dark and light,
cleats and water. We throw forehands, backhands, pivot
and mark for the first 10 minutes. Then pick teams
and show the rest in context of a game.
Beyond this clinic that insures they play by the 10th
Edition rules, Marquette is looking for a SLUA
mentor/sponsor. This is someone who takes an ongoing
role in showing them more advanced aspects of the game
-- zone defenses, breaking a zone, string offenses,
break mark throws, hammers, H-stack, defending the
H-stack, etc. The mentor/sponsor can also arrange
practice games with other schools by contacting their
respective sponsor. Parkway North and Parkway Central
are both nearby and they have teams in the HS Spring
League. DeSmet has 2 teams.
Let me know if you can make it for Thursday's clinic
and if you are interested in being their SLUA
mentor/sponsor.
Thanks,
Buck
