Hey HS ultimate fiends! I just wanted to drop you all a line and
share some good news with you. Brian Jerauld from the Journals
contacted me this morning, asking about the league! In addition to
being a sports reporter, he's also a member of the StL ultimate
community. He said, and I quote, "I'd like to help get the
sport some coverage this year."
Incredible, isn't it? One year in existance, and the HS game is
going to get media coverage. Granted, it's just the Journals, but
still. Gotta crawl before you can walk, right?
This event, Brian and the Journals contacting us, is a testament to
two things:
First, it is evidence of just how amazing the people in the ultimate
community really are. People from all walks of life play the sport,
and if you ask, most would do anything to help a fellow flatballer.
And second, it shows just how incredible our sport really is.
Although it incorporates elements of many other games, it is unique
among sports. The combination of fierce competition, crazy
athleticism, mental focus, and good Spirit that come together in
ultimate . . . it's special.
I'm rambling, but I just wanted to share the news with everyone.
One more thing. The start of the HS season is drawing near, and I
would suggest building buzz in your schools NOW in advance of the
Spring season. Look for more specific information from Chris
Martens, coming soon, about what you'll need to do to "register" for
the league.
I'll see everyone around, or if not, in the Spring when the league
begins. Up!
