Our evening with Chris Davenport at Paragon was a great success and very well attended. Chris' presentation was extremely inspirational, as a result there is more than one Diamond Dogger looking for their own 14er to tackle! Paragon, Helley Hansen, and K2 were more than generous and we all got to take home a good bit of loot. Congratulations to our own Maryana Kushnir for scoring a Helly Hansen jacket!

Upcoming Events

Well the party continues this Friday with the premiere of Swift.Silent.Deep. This is a wonderful movie and an event not to be missed. TGR is promoting this event as is Skiing Magazine (http://www.skinet.com/skiing/fondue-party/ski-culture/2009/10/swiftsilentdeep-premieres-this-week#). We expect a big turnout so arrive early to make sure you get tickets - box office opens at 7pm. Tickets are $10 and showings are at 7:30 and 9:30 at the School of Visual Arts Theater (333 W 23rd.). Now that the lifts are spinning at both Loveland and A-Basin and the season's first tracks have been carved into Snowbird's Cirque, it's time to get excited about the 2009-2010 North American ski season.  For those members on Facebook, we are moving our Facebook "Group" to a more interactive "Fan" page; we would be excited to have you join us here:  http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/New-York-NY/Diamond-Dogs-Ski-Club/170947201004.  If you're not using Facebook, this might be a good reason to join so that you don't miss out on any ski and Club news!

Save the date, Friday, October 30th, where the Diamond Dogs Ski Club will present the NYC Premiere of the critically acclaimed "SWIFT.SILENT.DEEP: The Story of the Jackson Hole Air Force" on NYC's largest HD screen.  The event will also feature raffle prizes that you really don't want to miss.

The following Thursday, November 5th, join us for the exclusive Diamond Dogs grand opening of Eastern Mountain Sports' new ski shop at their new SoHo store.  The evening will feature food and refreshments, exclusive member discounts, plus vendor representatives and great raffle prizes from the biggest names in skiing and mountaineering including Black Diamond, Mammut, Dynafit, Icebreaker, Superfeet, Icelandic, Scarpa, The North Face, plus more.  We are also expecting to host a well known special guest for the evening, so stay tuned!

Well, here we are at June 1st and it's time to say goodbye. The club will
be run by a new team who will lead the club into a new era. I'm please to

    Hiya,
     
    Thank you all for another great season! We were able to sell out a record NINE trips this year through a very rough economy. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the past year, and what you think about our future.
     
    Just take 10 minutes of your time and fill out our survey here by May 1st.
     
    Lastly, if you have not already heard - after 6 seasons as President of the Diamond Dogs I will be turning over the reigns to a new leadership team in 2010. I will assume a chairman role for the next year to assist with an orderly transition. I assure you I am leaving you in very capable hands to bring the club to the next level.
     
    I want to thank all of our 2600 members for making this a very successful and rewarding club. I'm very proud of what we've accomplished in a very short amount of time, and the great people I have come to know.

    Place: Banc Cafe.
    The address is 431 Third Avenue.
    It is on the North East Corner of 30th and 3rd.
    The telephone number is 212-252-0146. They do serve food.
    Time: 7:30 to 10:30 pm
    The drink specials are: Happy Hour prices all night long including
    $6.00 Martinis, $4.00 pints of Bud light and Banc Ale, and $3.50 bottles of Miller Light.
     
    The bar is going to provide us with some trays of food also!!!

    Hiya,
     
    There were some issues with the website forms
    not working on Monday / Tuesday. I've done some
    reconfiguration on the back end and it's working
    again. I do apologize for any inconvenience - it's our
    first web outage in 3+ years - and if you signed up
    for any trips or tried to buy lift tickets and were
    unsuccessful, please try it again.

    STEEP - The award winning ski movie released last year, is having a private
    screening tonight with the director, Mark Obenhaus and producer, Tom Yellin.
    The evening will include a Q&A with Mark and Tom.
