Heyo!

Thanks for everyone who came last night! That was an awesome venue !

We're close to nailing down the Alaska trip. Details will be posted early
next week.

For anyone who is interested - one of our members has some extra space
in their condo in Park City, Utah from Jan 24-28 at a great price. Ordinarily,
that in itself would be very cool deal. But if you add in that its the week of
the Sundance film festival - now you've just crossed the line to awesome!

If you're interested in getting a star-filled ski weekend on your calendar
send an email to info@... and I'll get you connected!

Thanks!

Happy New Year Everyone!

My resolution is to have a kickin' party with some friends.
So come join us all for a New Year celebration cocktail
party on
January 11th at 230 Fifth! (Between 26th-27th)

If you haven't been to 230 Fifth yet, it's quite the experience.
They have a great view and they do serve food. We will be
in the North Lounge on the 20 floor starting at 7 p.m on...

We're joining up for Dynamic Outdoors and First Thursday
- and we're asking you all to break out the prime threads:
Men:--no ripped jeans, baseball caps, or sneakers.
Women--if you want to break out the little black dress,
             this is the time.

This is going to be an epic party - hope you all can make it.

Last Call for Sun Valley! Ticketing is January 3rd.
Its the last big trip with open spaces. If you want to be
where
the action is - join us in Sun Valley from Feb 10-17th.

Thats it for now! Best of health and happiness in 2007!

Boy, are the Rockies getting pounded right now!

I am happy to report that our intrepid Snow Chasers are back home again,
having tamed the double blacks of Breckenridge in spite of their altitude
sickness and survived that nice little hike up to 13000 feet in heavy winds.
Great Trip ! We'll definitely be doing another Snowchaser next year!

Onto this year - it looks like most everything is sold out at this point.
But we do have some spaces remaining for Sun Valley from Feb 10-17th.

We're also considering a trip to Alaska in mid-March. Please send an
email to info@... with the subject: ALASKA POR FAVOR
if you are interested in going. Yes, there will be Heli-Skiing involved.

Last but not least - We prove again that all ski shops are not like Princeton.
Our friends at Surefoot have graciously offered us a 10% discount for all
club members on anything and everything in their store. To get the discount,
just present your Diamond Dogs Membership card when you check out.

Hiya!

We have a cancellation for the Snowchaser: December 14-18th to Breckenridge.
They've got great early season snow in Colorado so expect great conditions!

The spot is for a female sharing a room with another female. I can get the spot
with or without airfare if you want to use frequent flier miles.

We're staying at the Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge. Right in town which is
all lighted up for the christmas holiday. It's going to be an awesome trip!

4 days skiing is $1150 and 3 days is $1100. Without air is $350 cheaper.

If you are interested in going - or just have questions - CALL 917-696-1165.

Mount Snow is no longer offering the Diamond Dogs Ski Club
their group discount as in years before. The sticking point is
that we would not provide them with a list the names of all
our members. We offered what we thought was a reasonable
compromise of showing our membership card as proof but they
did not find that adequate. We certainly enjoy skiing there
and sincerely hope that the management at Mount Snow will
reconsider their decision next season.

We tried our best to work with them but as a not-for-profit
we have little or no power over the corporations that run the
skiing industry. But you as an individual can vote with your
vacation dollars! We encourage our Diamond Dogs Members
to patronize out other resorts in Southern Vermont such as
Bromley, Okemo and Stratton.

Heck, why not give Ascutney a try?

A huge storm has hammered the Rockies with snow. It started snowing last night and has been going strong since then. The flakes are wet and the snow has a high moisture content, which makes for lots of it. This will settle for a day or so and then it's due to get cold, thereby sucking all the moisture out and making for the Champagne powder that we all love.

If you plan on going on Snowchaser, you have 1 day left to get onboard - the trip destination will be announced on December 1st only to people who have signed up for it!

Hiya Everyone!

Hope you're having a great summer so far!  Just wanted to give you the following announcement.

Russell Crap over at Princeton Ski Shop informed me that they would no longer be honoring any discount for the Metro New York Ski Council, and by proxy our own Ski Club. Not only that, he took it a step further and was rather insulting about the whole thing, saying it was silly for us to assume the deal would carry over from year to year.

Well, I certainly feel silly about this...  NOT!

So I'd like to encourage you all who may or may not be in the market to get some gear this fall to patronize the shops that actually respect their clientele.

Shops that offer discounts and are not rude to us include:

Emilio's Ski Shop
www.emiliosskishop.com
112-32 Queens Blvd., Forrest Hills, NY, (718) 544-0404.
10% off everything in the store (except sale items) & services all year.
Contact: Bill or Paul, owners.

Panda Ski Shop
9213 5th Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11209, (718) 238-4919.
10% off everything in the store (except sale items) & services all year.
Contact: Bob, owner.

Sundown Ski & Sport Shop
47 Northern Blvd., Greenvale, NY (516) 621-6668.
10% off non-sale items.

Princeton Ski Shops - WAIT A MINUTE?!?! - NO DISCOUNT FOR YOU!!!

Hey - while we're at it. Please let him know your displeasure! Tell him you won't buy another thing in his stores until he apologizes to the Diamond Dogs Ski Club.
You can email him directly at RussellC@.... He seems to love email!

Ski Stop Inc.
 www.skistop.com
197 S. Service Road of the L.I.E., Plainview, NY, (516) 249-7980.
10% off non-sale items.

Sno-Haus Ski Shops

& 2 Jericho Tpke., Huntington Station, NY, (631) 549-5087.
10% off non-sale items.

Basin Ski Shop and Out of Bounds Board Shop
www.basinski.com
Killington Rd., RR1, Box 2395, Killington, VT 05751, (802) 422-3234.
10% off clothing, 15% off accessories, 20% off services, $5 off performance rentals, $10 off multi-day performance rentals and free mount & prep with all ski and binding purchases. Contact: Rick Torrey, owner.

Thanks, and please resume tanning!
