Hiking Trip: Mohonk Preserve
For your NY friends, maybe you could forward this as well....
Three weeks ago I went on a hiking day trip to the Mohonk Preserve in
Upstate NY (about 90 miles from NYC) with a few friends. It was such
a great experience, it should definitely be done more often...
So, I'm organizing the next trip for either Saturday, May 31st or
Sunday, June 1st for everyone who feels like leaving the city and
doesn't have access to a car....
We'll depart Manhattan around 10am and leave Mohonk in the 6-7pm
range. Times are flexible and can be adjusted as per majority
preference. The way it stands now, cost will be approx. $45.
This will include the ride and the tickets... and I'll see if I
can throw in some refreshments too!
Please contact me ASAP with questions and comments and your RSVP
if you are interested, and please forward this to anyone else who
might be inclined to join in for some rockin' fun on the trails!!!
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

PS: The Mohonk Preserve;
Located just 90 miles north of New York City, The Mohonk Preserve
provides visitors access to 6,500 acres – including cliffs, forests,
fields, ponds, and streams – and to a network of over 100 miles of
carriage roads and trails for hiking, running, mountain biking,
horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. Also, the inter-
nationally renowned "Gunks" cliffs offer over 1,000 technical rock
climbing routes.
The largest member and visitor supported nature preserve in New York
State, the Mohonk Preserve protects the northern Shawangunk Ridge, a
section of the Appalachian Mountains and a National Landmark
Landscape.
Through research, education, and land management, the Preserve carries
out its mission to preserve this land and to promote a wider under-
standing of the environment and its role in our lives. The generosity
of members, visitors, supporters, and volunteers ensures that this
landscape will be protected, understood, and enjoyed for years to come
