To all those Diamond Dogs and Powder Hounds out there....
I just got back from skiing Snowbird and Alta over the weekend and the
conditions were phenomenal! There is still so much snow and very few
bare spots...166 inch base at mid-mountain. The only few bare spots
(very few) that I found were on the eastern facing slopes of Peruvian
Gulch right off the tram. There was even some packed powder at the high
elevations. The conditions are icy in the morning but by 10:30 AM
everything is nice and soft.
For everyone going this weekend, get up early and hit Mineral Basin on
the South side in the morning because it will be pea soup by 10:30 AM.
Stick to the steeps in Peruvian Gulch off the tram; the conditions are
awesome! For steep shoots in the trees and good snow, hit the Gad2 Lift.
Snowbird just received 2" of snow yesterday...a little disappointing
considering Little Cottonwood Canyon was covered in a "big cloud".
Regardless, the temperatures should be colder all week and the snow is
going nowhere!
You are in for some of the best Spring skiing on the continent! Also,
let me know if you're staying in Salt Lake, I'll give you a run down of
which bars and clubs to hit! Surprisingly, there is a lot going on in
that town on Friday and Saturday nights!
Enjoy!
Douglas

I've been at Snowbird all this week. They got 16" on Monday and its
snowing now (expecting 6" today). I highly recommend coming out;
there's a ton of snow left.
