Congratulations! Last Thursday we raised $2000 for Stride.
STRIDE is a non-profit organization founded 20 years ago by MaryEllen Whitney,
who started the organization as a result of a research project. As a special education
teacher, she found that by getting physically and mentally challenged students involved
in sports that their confidence and spirits improved considerably. This is the third year that the Diamond Dogs have hosted a fundraiser for STRIDE. |
IF you couldn't make it, but want to contribute anyway, email aseyler@...
In the Mandarin Oriental Hotel @ The Time Warner Center
8 W 60th St, 35th Fl
New York, NY 10019
The main attraction of this expansive bar, sunken a few steps below the hotel's 35th floor lobby, is its impressive wall of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a dazzling stretch of Broadway all the way downtown. Leisured visitors and locals--many of whom opt for fur coats in winter--arrange themselves in clusters of cream-colored leather seats, which can be spread out to accommodate large groups.

24 th Annual Bear MountainMogul Challenge - April 3rd 2004
The Twenty Fourth Annual Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge, Presented by
Budweiser, returns to Outer Limits. The steepest mogul slope in eastern North
America, covering 1,200 feet of vertical in a half a mile, has also played home to
Olympic Champion Donna Weinbrecht, and 2002 Olympic team members
Hannah Hardaway and Evan Dybvig. Each year 200 amateur bumpers line up to
show their stuff in this inaugural spring event, while spectators relax in the sun
at the bottom of the trail on lawn chairs
and sofas with barbecue grills and
coolers in tow, ready to officially celebrate the rites of spring skiing. (Yes, there`s
even a cook-off in the crowd too, complete with trophies.)
Going to be there? Going to be tailgating? Us too! Let us know where to find you!

At the end of the season, we'll have elections for next year's club officers.
If you'd like to run for one of these glorious positions - email me and you'll
be added to the ballot. Voting begins on May 1st and ends on May 15th.
President - You get to show up at all the events and tell people about the
club! Worth the job for the free drinks alone! - I'll be fighting you for this one.
Vice President - You get to show up at all the events that the President can't.
Plus you get to do the President's job should they be assassinated, impeached
|for improper conduct with an intern, or just generally unavailable.
Membership Coordinator - Keeps track of all our members, and finds ways to
recruit more - we've got 467 and counting. That's 750% more than last year. You
get to do some advertising and marketing work, and go to lots of social events.
Benefits Coordinator - You get to interface with people in the full spectrum of
the ski industry ( manufacturers, shops, resorts, tour operators) and get them to
give us stuff. Sounds hard? Its not. To tell you the truth, its one of the most fun
jobs we've got out there...
Social Coordinator(s) - Okay, the second most fun job we've got is to put together
things for us to do. Charity Events, Recreation, Social Activities, and my favorite -
Happy Hour. You get to work with our partner groups, Dynamic Outdoors, Manhattan
Network, Murphguide, and First Thursday's. Nonstop fun and socializing.
Race Coordinator - You get to organize and train with our team for the annual
Metro New York Ski Council Race in January 2005. Running since 1934, We
compete against all the other clubs in the Metro New York area. Our first year we
had a bronze medalist. This year we had a double gold winner in the Women's and
double silver winner (It's ME!) in the Men's. Help us CRUSH the competition!
Website Coordinator - We've got a website that needs constant updating. Plus a
calendar that goes year-round. If you've got the skills, come show us your stuff...
Group Leaders - We're always looking for people to lead trips. Its a lot of work,
but there are alot of rewards. (Did I mention the free ski trips? )
If you're interested in being a group leader, we'll add you to our list.
If you're interested, send email to info@... and don't forget to vote on May 1!
