Imagine a child who is confined to a wheelchair who, on a Saturday afternoon, can ride
the ‘half-pipe’ on a specially constructed ski and feel the wind in whistling through his
helmet. Now picture the smile on that child's face - It stays with you forever.
What’s truly special about this organization is that it’s made up of all volunteers. All
of the money raised goes directly to the charity. The programs are offered free of charge
to the participants. The group’s staff are self-less volunteers who have gone through
special training to be able to work with these children. This is a truly unique association.
This is the third year that the Diamond Dogs have hosted a fundraiser for STRIDE. Our
affiliation with them began after the events on
and one of the original Diamond Dogs, Larry Sumaya on that day. For those of
you fortunate enough to have known Larry with his generous heart and love for skiing,
we thought this would be a great way to remember him and honor his memory.
Please join us at our end of month Happy Hour on Thursday March 25 for a short
presentation from Peter Corsi and Denis Ferentinos, two of STRIDE’s outstanding
instructors, who’ll share some of their terrific experiences over the years.
Last year’s fundraiser was largest single private donation ever to STRIDE of $2,500.
We’d like to beat that goal this year. Please join us at Trinity Pub for a night of good beer
and good works toward your fellow man. We’ve got some great raffle prizes - and don't
forget your checkbook on what will be an inspirational and fun evening.
