Revolver 2009 Tryouts!   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #497 of 524 |
Dear SF Ultimate Community,

Revolver is inviting all interested open players to tryout for our
2009 roster. We are committed to an open pre-season and tryout process
that encourages the growth of good Ultimate on the West Coast, and
with this in mind, this message is being posted to RSD as well as
several frisbee-related email lists.

Who is Revolver?

Revolver is an elite men's team based in the San Francisco Bay Area
beginning our 4th year. Our team was founded on the belief that
consistent hard work, humility, and great team chemistry lead to truly
exceptional Ultimate teams, as well as an enjoyable team experience.
Our goal is to build a championship program, and 2009 season will be
another stepping stone towards that end.

What's similar about Revolver 2009 as compared to past Revolver teams?

There are two big similarities from previous years. First, and most
importantly, we are committed to maintaining Revolver's unique team
'culture' and personality. We have always been committed to enjoying
each other's company even as we push each other on the field - this
means that we spend a lot of time hanging out as a team and getting to
know each other better. Second, we will continue to add great athletes
and great teammates. Every year we have added new players, and this
year will be no exception.

What's different?

There are three changes worth mentioning. The most important is that
we have a fantastic new coach, Chris McManus. Second, we have two new
Captains, Robbie Cahill and Alex "Dutchy" Ghesquiere in addition to
returning Captain, Mike Payne. Third, we will be updating our
offensive and defensive strategies. You can learn more about this at
tryouts.

What is Revolver's tryout schedule?

We will have open tryouts on April 25th and 26th at Baylands Park in
Sunnyvale (timing TBD). Please email us with your intention of
attending (as many of you already have), and we look forward to seeing
and meeting you. If you cannot make this weekend, we can arrange an
alternate tryout date. In May, we will have 4 additional practices
(two two-day practices). Although these will be tryout practices, we
will be starting to teach and play Revolver's 2009 strategy, since
time together is precious and we are committed to making it highly
productive. We will play at Cal States in Santa Cruz in early June,
and after which we will finalize Revolver's roster.

If you are interested in playing with Revolver in 2009, or if you have
any questions, we'd encourage you to contact one of the Captains
(emails below). When you do, we will put you on our tryout email list,
and we will share with you a simple one-page document that outlines
Revolver's leadership commitment, vision, strategy, and goals.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Robbie Cahill (robbiecah@...)
Alex "Dutchy" Ghesquiere (aghesquiere@...)
Mike Payne (mike.payne@... )
Coach Chris McManus(chrisbmcmanus@...)
