Disc Golf in Golden Gate Park Needs Your Help Oct. 20th!   Message List

apologies for cross-posting

Dear Supporter of Disc Golf in San Francisco:

On Thursday, October 20th at 2pm in City Hall in Room 416 (two weeks from
today) the San Francisco Parks Commission will finally decide whether to
remove the disc golf course in Golden Gate Park or make it permanent and
possibly expand it.

This is a decision which will depend in part on how many supporters show up.

At the last hearing in April close to 100 of us attended, and we were told
by the Parks Dept. that our attendance made the difference in not having the
course removed. So our goal for this meeting is to more than double that and
get over 200 people at the hearing -- but we can only do that with your
help. If you, your friends, family members or co-workers have spent any time
at the course, we need all of you to come to the hearing on October 20th.

If only a handful of us show up at the hearing you can be sure that the
course will be pulled. That's right -- no more disc golf in Golden Gate
Park. So won't you please join us on October 20th? We realize that getting
time off on a weekday is no easy task -- nevertheless if there are hundreds
of us there we will not be ignored or easily dismissed.

There are two other simple things you can do whether you can make it to the
hearing or not:

CALL THE PARKS DEPARTMENT:
We are asking everyone to take a moment in the next 2 weeks and call the
Parks Dept. at 415-831-2700 and simply tell whoever answers that you want
the course to be expanded to a full 18 holes and made permanent. This will
literally take 20 seconds - they will thank you for your input and add it to
their tally of comments for or against and that's that. We all know what
happens when we put things off until later, so PLEASE make this call TODAY.

SEND A LETTER TO THE PARKS DEPARTMENT:
If you have not already done so, please SEND A LETTER to the Parks
Commission. Simply go to: http://www.sfdiscgolf.org/feedback/feedback.html

Once again, here are the details:

What: Parks Commission Hearing on Disc Golf in Golden Gate Park
When: 2pm, Thursday October 20th
Where: City Hall, Room 416

Together, we can make disc golf a permanent fixture in San Francisco.

Thanks for your continued support,

Ross Hammond
