3 blocks from Bart/Caltrain, convenient to both 101 and 280, on
Broadway Avenue (but just past the commercial district, so it's
quiet). One block from a weekly farmers' market. One of the few
apartments in Millbrae that isn't a cookie-cutter, soul-sucking
demonstration of unimaginative design. Spanish style architecture,
it's a 4 part unit, which is mirrored by another of the same to
create a horseshoe shape, surrounding a courtyard full of flowers and
bougainvillea. It's near the airport, but the landlord put in good
double glazed windows so you only hear planes during stormy weather
when they change the flight patterns.
Kitchen:
Smallish, but not cramped. Two people can cook without getting into
each others' way. Dishwasher, Gas Stove, In-Sink-erator, LOTS of
cabinet space, special garbage chute
Breakfast "nook"/Arts&Crafts room: Lots of windows/light. Room for a
table & 4 chairs. Has a built in ironing board, along with the
original 1950s iron, complete with fraying fabric cord. Even more
cabinets to be had.
Living room:
Substantial, and feels even larger as it has cathedral ceilings. You
heard me. And a working fireplace. And a large closet.
Hall/Foyer: Decent sized coat closet.
Bedroom: Reasonably sized (room for a queen in the middle, dressers
on all three sides, and room to pile up clothing everywhere. Plus a
walk-in closet.
Balcony (off of the living room): It overlooks the courtyard kept up
by the landlord's landscaper. Here you can see the fog covering San
Francisco while you sit in the sun. It's not the largest balcony, but
there's plenty of room for lots of plants, your grill & cooler, and a
few chairs.
Bathroom: Bathtub, fun 50's style pink tile, lots of cabinet space.
Garage: We use it for storage, since there's always been plenty of
street parking.
Landlord: Chill and hands off, though responds promptly when there's
a problem.
Available 10/1 (or around that weekend, we're flexible). We're paid
through until the 10th, but would hope to find someone who can move
in earlier so we don't continue paying rent here while having started
living elsewhere.
