[All] Girl with dogs, degrees, art and attitude seeks house mate i   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #214 of 524 |
Now that I am recovered (and thrilled) from my work on the Fair Trade
Fair in Cancun, I am back to house mate hunting:

One bedroom with large walk-in closet available for rent in an
outstanding 3 bedroom house (one is an office and the other my
room)on the North Oakland/ Emeryville border, south of San Pablo.
Really kick-ass neighborhood - we all know each other and look out
for one another. The house has lots of windows (with window grates
about to come off), light, color, art, open space and gardens. There
is one fabulous bathroom with lots of copper, skylight and
chandelier; a large open room that is the living space with couches
and chairs, stereo, tv; a large kitchen with dining room - French
doors open to the back yard/garden. (Growing) fruit trees and
tropical plants, ponds and fountains in the making. Washer/dryer.
Storage space. I have owned the place since mid-April and it still
has some morphing in store.

From my end, I have a recent PhD in anthropology and work in Fair
Trade agricultural development. Gots me an art studio about 8 blocks
away where I do metal and mixed media, play loud music and get my
ya-yas out. Into organic gardening, talking to the neighbors (of all
ages and ethnicities), ultimate frisbee, cycling, hiking, taking "the
man" to task from all sides.

Hoping for a house mate that is mid 30s+, clean, has there own life
that crosses over in dinner parties, music, basic respect in shared
space and early morning/late night noise. No tv addicts, smokers of
cigarettes, Arnold posters.

Two fabulous dogs live here and that's probably enough canines. We
would all, however, love to have a cat in our midst.
