Just when you thought your holiday season could not possibly be
better, just when you thought you had your fill of excitement with
seeing "Big Sexy" in the same ring as your NWA Wisconsin Champion
Mason Quinn and former X-Division Champion Thomas Walton III, NWA
Wisconsin raised the holiday stakes by buying yet ANOTHER spiffy gift,
the Rocker, Marty Jannetty, the former AWA, WWF/WWE and WCW star.
On December 13, NWA Wisconsin came to Pulaski for the first time EVER
at the legendary Zielinski's Ballroom for an incredible show.
Kicking off the night is a 20-man Battle Royal, where the winner takes
on Mason Quinn later in the night for the NWA Wisconsin Heavyweight
Championship!
Chase McCoy enters the ring first, followed by the second entrant is
"TW3" Thomas Walton III. Next in the ring is J-Ca$h, the Sac-Town
Superstar, and one of the most popular wrestlers in All-Star
Championship Wrestling and NWA-WI. Jamie the Weezel accompanies his
charge, Diamond Dave Demone to the ring, as he is the next entrant.
"Weezie" and his charges are all universally despised, despite what
Weezie would think. Next in the ring is the ACW Heavyweight Champion,
"Cadillac" Nick Colucci, followed by Jerry Stylz and his tag team
partner, Justin Dredd and Stylz's former tag team partner, Adrian
Lynch. Kevin Krueger makes his way to the ring, then Douglas
"Do-Right" Peterson, "the nicest guy in ACW", now likely to be the
"nicest guy in NWA Wisconsin". Next to enter are tag teams, Spanish
Stew (Dinn T. Moore & "El Vato" Jose Guerrero), former NWA Wisconsin
Tag Team Champions, and the reunited GQ Centerfolds, "Love Machine"
Matt Longtime and "Tasty" Travis Lee. Outside of the ring are Weezel
and his protégé, hanging back from the action. Could this be part of
Weezel's game plan? If so, it would show that Weezel has been doing
some studying of old tapes, as having your man hang outside of the
ring and take advantage of opportunities as they arise is an old trick
used by many wrestlers to win this type of contest. Jett Bennett,
with a brand-new look and new gear for this "ACW Original" makes his
way to the ring, and the final entrant will be Jett Bennett's opponent
later in the night, the fire-breathing Sam Hayne!
There isn't a single wrestler on the roster that wouldn't love to be
the NWA Wisconsin Champion, and Mason Quinn will be watching closely
to see who will be his opponent later in the night. Every one of
these wrestlers will have been prepared for Quinn, but Quinn would
have to either prepare for 20 different opponents, or find out what he
can once the winner is crowned.
As the bell rings, there is utter mayhem, as one would expect from
having this many people in one ring at one time. Dinn T. Moore
attacks Chase McCoy and it appears that Sam Hayne will not be the NWA
Wisconsin Champion as he is the first to be eliminated. Cadillac
Colucci, whom has had several attempts at Quinn won't be getting
another one tonight, as he is the next to go. It's not surprising
that those two were the first eliminations, as Hayne is clearly a
threat anytime he steps foot in the ring, and Colucci has had multiple
title shots already, so no one in the ring is going to let him last
long enough to be competition.
Kevin Krueger is being worked on in one corner, while Stylz and Dredd
attack Lynch in another corner. Being near the ropes can be good
strategy, as it gives you something to hold onto, but it also can work
against you, as being too close to the ropes can make it that much
easier for a foe to scoop you up and send you outside the ring.
J-Ca$h is taking on Diamond Dave. Jamie the Weasel's protégés are not
known for their "courage under fire", a trait no doubt learned from
their manager. J-Ca$h and "Weezie" have had some issues in the past,
and Ca$h is only too happy to take it out on "Diamond" Dave. Over on
the far corner of the ring, Chase McCoy is eliminated, while "T-Dub-3"
is nearly eliminated, but manages to save himself at the last second.
However, his reprieve doesn't last long, as both he and J-Ca$h are
eliminated, thanks to the interference of the recently-eliminated
Chase McCoy, who finds himself being chased around the ring, due to
his interference. This feud between McCoy, J-Ca$h and Walton is far
from over.
Diamond Dave is double-teamed by Spanish Stew, as Krueger works over
Justin Dredd. Adrian Lynch is taking on his former protégé, Jerry
Stylz. Dinn T leaves Diamond Dave for his partner, while he goes
after the Love Machine, Matt Longtime, leading with several kicks to
the midsection of Longtime. Lynch beats a bit on Diamond Dave before
turning his attention to Justin Dredd. Do-Right Peterson attacks Matt
Longtime in the corner, while Longtime is attacking Dinn T Moore.
Peterson then turns his attention to assisting Longtime in attempting
to throw Moore over the top rope. Dinn T. chops Longtime while Jerry
Stlyz manages to turn the tables a bit and lays a beating on his
former mentor, Lynch. Stylz stomps away at Lynch while Justin Dredd
ensures that "Weezel" won't have a NWA Wisconsin Champion under
contract to him anytime soon, throwing "Diamond Dave" over the top rope.
Matt Longtime is holding onto Dredd, trying to avoid elimination.
Longtime manages to regain his footing and begins to teach Dredd a
lesson he won't soon forget. Adrian Lynch teams with Kevin Krueger
temporarily, but their team is interrupted by Dinn T. Moore, whom
attacks Lynch.
Douglas "Do-Right" attempts to score an elimination in the corner,
while Lynch and Justin Dredd have a "meeting of the minds" so to
speak, as Dinn T. Moore slams their heads together, before turning his
attention to "Do-Right", chopping him hard across the chest as Jerry
Stylz finds himself eliminated from the contest. Stylz's tag team
partner, Justin Dredd attacks Dinn T. Moore , and Dinn T's partner El
Vato finds himself trapped in a corner, but manages to get out to lay
in an attack on Douglas "Do-Right" Peterson, before handing over that
offence to "Love Machine" Matt Longtime. Dredd receives a hard chop
across the chest from Dinn T. Moore, and finds himself on the wrong
end of a double-team from Spanish Stew and no Jerry Stlyz to aid him.
Dinn T. works over Dredd, and rolls him over the top rope, but as
Dredd did not touch the floor, he is not eliminated yet and still in
the championship hunt. Douglas Do-Right Peterson forms a temporary
alliance with Kevin Krueger to eliminate Matt Longtime. Dredd's
return to the ring is short-lived; however, as Dinn T. Moore finishes
the job he started, making sure Dredd is eliminated this time. Douglas
Peterson is the only one not an "ACW Original" left in the ring, and
it would be quite the feather in Do-Right's hat to receive a title
shot for the NWA Wisconsin belt tonight, but there are still plenty of
very tough wrestlers he has to go through still.
Matt Longtime has managed to save himself from elimination and has
Do-Right Peterson in one corner, while another has Dinn T. Moore and
Adrian Lynch; a third has Krueger and "El Vato", who ducks a big
haymaker by Krueger that sends "God's Gift To Women" flying out of the
ring (with Vato's assistance) and out of this contest. Lynch finds
himself on the receiving end of some Dinn T. Moore punches, before
going to dish out some more punishment on the "Love Machine".
However, just because Dinn T. has left doesn't mean that Lynch is out
of the proverbial jungle yet, but as the cliché goes, the best defence
is a good offence, so some eye rakes gives him some breathing room.
Lynch delivers some elbows and right hands to Longtime, while Dinn T.
moves to take on Douglas "Do-Right" Peterson. Lynch finds himself out
of the hunt for the championship at least for tonight, as he is
eliminated by Longtime, who now moves to aid Dinn T. in his assault on
Peterson. Do-Right finds himself on the receiving end of some chops
by Longtime, who pulls Do-Rights tunic over his head to maximise the
impact of his chops. Spanish Stew takes a small breather, while
Do-Right finds himself eliminated. He put up an incredible fight that
will no doubt be noticed by both ACW and NWA Wisconsin management as
he gets some more seasoning.
Do-Right's elimination leaves four competitors, both tag teams in the
ring: The GQ Centerfolds, "Tasty" Travis Lee and "Love Machine" Matt
Longtime versus Spanish Stew, Dinn T. Moore and "El Vato" Jose
Guerrero. Dinn T. starts off the offence with a big clothesline on
"Tasty" Travis Lee, and follows up with a whip into the ropes as Lee
stands up. Lee is the next to be eliminated, as he makes the mistake
of turning his back on Dinn T., who takes advantage of the moment of
carelessness on the part of Travis Lee. In the other corner, El Vato
is rubbing his crotch into the face of Longtime in an attempt of
psychological warfare and to keep Longtime off-guard. Vato finds
himself going over the top rope with Longtime, but despite Longtime
being eliminated, Vato holds on and saves himself, leaving only his
tag team partner, Dinn T. Moore.
One of these two men will win a shot at Mason Quinn's title later in
the evening. Both men have held championship gold, but a singles
title is what they wrestle for now. The respect for each other is
there, as neither will blatantly charge the other, and they allow each
other to take a second to catch their breath. A handshake in the
centre of the ring cements their friendly competition, acknowledging
that no matter who wins, they will support each other as friends and
partners.
They lock up in the middle of the ring. Vato is backed into the
ropes, but frees himself with a knee to Dinn T.'s gut. Vato presses
his attack on Dinn T., but Dinn T. shocks Vato by pulling down the
ring rope, and Vato is unable to stop his forward momentum, and he
takes a header out of the ring, and is eliminated, leaving Dinn T.
Moore the winner of a match for the NWA Wisconsin Championship tonight
against Mason Quinn.
Dinn T. surprises everyone with his post-match bad sportsmanship,
smashing a pitcher of beer into the face of his tag team partner, when
Reverend Ben Johnson appears ringside and takes a microphone. Ben
Johnson has the microphone, but it apparently isn't turned on, as we
are unable to hear what the Reverend has to say, but it appears like
he was in the ear of Dinn T., convincing him to split from his team
and side with the Reverend, who is apparently making a return to
managing, as the new manager of championship contender Dinn T. Moore
walks to the back, leaving Vato to fend for himself as he slowly makes
his way to the back.
NWA Wisconsin owner Jason Jerry introduces the special guest for
tonight, the former WWF and AWA tag team champion with Shawn Michaels,
Marty Jannetty, who makes his debut in NWA Wisconsin tonight.
Marty comes to the ring, shaking hands with Jason Jerry, and looking
to be in phenomenal physical condition. Jason tells Marty how great
it is to have him appear here at NWA Wisconsin, and lets Marty have
the microphone to talk to the fans. Marty takes the fans on a little
trip through time, back to when he was in the AWA and travelling
through Wisconsin all the time, and how to this day, he still loves
the opportunity to travel and meet fans throughout the country and the
world. Unfortunately, before Marty can get another word out, he is
interrupted by the man he will be facing tonight, the current NWA
Midwest Champion, Silas Young.
Silas, who is never really high on anyone's Christmas card list, puts
himself further down on the fans' "love list" as he takes the
microphone from Jannetty. Silas says that he came out a little early
because he wanted to pay his respects to Marty Jannetty, a man he grew
up watching wrestle on television. Although there were some other
wrestlers Silas loved to watch, he admits that in his mind, none
compared to Jannetty. However, it is clear that not all of what Silas
is saying is praise, as push literally comes to shove and Jason Jerry
has to physically get between these two and lets them know they need
to save whatever hostilities they have for the main event tonight, and
may the better man win. Marty composes himself like a true
professional, while Silas gets in another verbal cheap shot, saying
that the "better man" will be the one who walks out with the belt in
hand. Silas walks to the back, and Marty soaks in the cheers of the
crowd for a moment longer before making his way to the back to prepare
for his match.
Sam Hayne vs. Jett Bennett
Mr. Bennett, an "ACW Original", has been out of action for several
years here. We hope that he has funeral expenses taken care of and
life insurance paid up for his return when going against the
fire-breathing Lord of Darkness, Sam Hayne.
Jett Bennett, as mentioned previously, has a new look and new gear to
match. Hopefully, he'll get to "break it in" against Sam Hayne.
Hayne is physically the equal of Bennett, which is an advantage few
competitors have, and is also familiar with Hayne. However, Bennett
has some ring rust, which Hayne may turn to his advantage. Hayne
makes his way to the ring on his own, without the lovely Mystique
tonight, but the fire he breathes heats up the room just the same.
In back and forth action with the two big men exchanging blows, Hayne
shows some of his acrobatic skill, mounting the top rope and dropping
Jett Bennett with a superplex, which proves to be all Hayne needed to
pick up the three count. Another mark in the "win" column for the
mighty Lord of Darkness. Hopefully, we have not seen the last of Jett
Bennett, as he fought the demon tooth and nail.
Chase McCoy & Mickey McCoy (NWA WI Tag Team Champions) vs. J-Ca$h &
Thomas Walton III
J-Ca$h is still not done with the irascible Irishman, Mickey McCoy,
and this time Mickey teams with brother Chase, the ACW X-Division
Champion, to take on J-Ca$h and the former Champion, Thomas Walton
III, aka TW3. As much as there is no love lost between Ca$h and
Mickey, there's even less love between TW3 and Chase.
Chase and Mickey are far from favourites of the crowd here at
Zielinski's Ballroom, and they don't care. Ca$h, having competed in
NWA Wisconsin previously, is always a favourite, and "T-Dub 3" is
similarly massively popular.
Chase and Mickey cement their well-deserved reputation, attacking Ca$h
and Thomas Walton III before the bell, but their attack is quickly
turned back on them, as Walton and Ca$h execute a double hip toss,
sending the irritating Irish brothers to the outside in a most
undignified manner. Ca$h leaps over the top rope, right on top of the
McCoys! Walton, certainly not wanting to be outdone, and perhaps
feeling a little left out, with all of his "playmates" on the outside,
leaps over the top rope himself, landing on the all three of the other
participants! Collapsing on a heap just outside the ring, they
continue to brawl as the referee attempts to get them back in the
ring. The crowd at Zielinski's is huge into J-Ca$h and Walton,
starting a "T-Dub-3" chant.
Ca$h rolls Chase back into the ring, sliding in after him, while his
tag team partner continues to fight from the outside. Ca$h whips
Chase into the ropes, catching him with a scoop up and a slam,
covering him, but only for a two count. Utilising some excellent tag
team manoeuvres, Ca$h sets up Mickey, now back in the ring for a
suplex, while Walton ascends to the top rope, bringing Mickey down
hard with a spike suplex. Ca$h covers Mickey, but Chase is there to
break it up, saving his partner.
Ca$h whips Chase into the ropes and Chase reverses, but telegraphs his
next offence, allowing Ca$h to easily duck and kick Chase right in the
kisser. Chase, however, doesn't fall right away, so Thomas Walton
does what any good tag team partner would do and comes off the top
rope with another kick to the face, following up with a spin heel kick
to Chase, finally felling him with a headscissors takedown, covering
the ineffectual Irishman for another two count.
Chase kicks out of the pin, and regaining his footing, takes the
offence with a kick below the belt to Walton. The McCoys exercise
some good tag team distraction manoeuvres, as Mickey enters the ring
and goes to J-Ca$h's corner, "flipping him the bird", while Chase
scoops and slams Walton, continuing to punish with a knee dropped on
Walton's chest.
Standing up Walton, Chase tags out to the corner letting Mickey in on
the "fun", slapping Walton in the face and raking his eyes. Mickey
again goads Ca$h, spitting in his face, enraging the "Sac-Town
Superstar", but giving the McCoys the distraction they need to double
team Walton. Mickey claps his hands together, giving the impression
of a tag to the distracted referee, busy trying to keep J-Ca$h out of
the ring and in his corner, and Chase enters the ring again to dish
out a little more punishment. Chase covers Walton again for a two
count. Walton recovers enough to take Chase down with a sunset flip
and a dropkick right to the chops. The crowd gets behind Walton, as
both men lie on the mat.
Chase manages to crawl to his corner and make a legitimate tag to his
partner, but Walton isn't far behind, and he brings in J-Ca$h, who
proceeds to clean house on the Irish duo with clotheslines and a spin
heel kick to the face, going upstairs to disorient Mickey. Mickey
hangs back by his corner and Ca$h tries to goad McCoy to come out.
However, Mickey's act of cowardice was actually a distraction,
allowing Chase to circle around the ring and levels Ca$h from behind.
Mickey drops a knee on the prone Ca$h. Mickey drags Ca$h to the
ropes, choking him and the referee has to get physically involved to
break up the hold. McCoy gleefully continues to punish Ca$h by
standing on him and once again the referee has to get physically
involved in the match to separate the two. Mickey reminds the referee
that he has a five count to break the hold, and the referee reminds
McCoy that the hold is illegal. McCoy then puts a boot to Ca$h's side
while holding on to an arm, trying to dislocate his shoulder and
reaches to his corner to tag Chase.
While Mickey holds Ca$h's arm, Chase climbs the second turnbuckle and
delivers a fistdrop on Ca$h's arm. TWIII enters the ring, but the
referee spots him and shoos him back to his corner. Chase continues
to work on the arm of J-Ca$h, attempting to force a submission from
the "Sac-Town Superstar". From his corner, Walton tries to get the
crowd behind J-Ca$h as a means of motivation.
Chase utilises a quick tag strategy to bring in Mickey, who teases
Ca$h and infuriates TWIII by pretending to let Ca$h tag out, but at
the last second jerking him away from the corner. Mickey attempts a
pin on Ca$h, but only gets a two count, despite his belief that the
count should have been a three. Ca$h hits the ropes to try to
clothesline Mickey, but misses. Bouncing off the opposite side
ropes, he misses again, but the third time is the charm for J-Ca$h as
he flattens Mickey. However, Ca$h is unable to take advantage of the
situation, falling to the mat himself. Both men have taken a lot of
abuse in this very physical contest. McCoy and Ca$h drag themselves
to their corners, and both succeed in tagging out to their partners.
The action is frantic as TW3 ducks a clothesline and returns the
favour with a spin heel kick in the face, continuing to utilise moves
designed to disorient the McCoys. Walton whips Chase into the ropes
and fells him with a dropkick. Walton quickly presses his advantage,
covering Chase and hooking the leg. It is almost a three count, and
likely would have been, had not Mickey smartly saved his partner.
However, J-Ca$h isn't willing to let Mickey's interference go
unpunished, as he brings the fight to him. TW3 stomps on the prone
Chase while Ca$h trades punches with Mickey. Walton and Ca$h mount
opposite corner turnbuckles and coordinate punches on the McCoys.
Coming off the turnbuckles, TW3 and J-Ca$h swing the McCoys into each
other, and the two collide hard and go down on a heap on the canvas.
Walton continues his offence, covering Chase, hooking the leg again,
but Chase again manages find the strength to kick out. Ca$h comes off
the ropes at Mickey, going for another clothesline, but Mickey wisely
pulls down the top rope at the last second, and Ca$h goes flying
outside the ring, landing on the hardwood floor.
Ca$h and Mickey continue their brawl outside the ring, once again
exchanging punches with each other. Ca$h picks up Mickey and
introduces him to the floor with a slam. Inside the ring, Chase isn't
faring much better, as Walton attacks with a series of kicks to the
midsection. Chase fights back, bringing Walton down across his knee,
back first. Chase takes the opportunity to head outside the ring to
grab a quick break, while Mickey, back inside the ring attempts to
distract the referee so Chase can do some more dirty work, slamming
J-Ca$h in the face with a chair. Ca$h, paying attention to Mickey,
once again forgot to remember where Chase was and he paid for it.
Working as a team, the McCoys pick up Thomas Walton III and drop him
on his head, covering him for the pin and the win, retaining their NWA
Wisconsin Tag Team Championship.
At this time, the former "Will the Thrill", now preferring to be known
as "ACW Commissioner William Sentowski" heads to the ring, and we took
the opportunity to interview the lovely Sarah Cherries. Sarah
confirms that her current position and title is "Assistant
Commissioner" of ACW. Noticing her obviously expensive wardrobe, we
asked how much money it cost, or where the funds came from, but Sarah
claimed she was "not at liberty to discuss at this time". We enquired
about the recent change in attitude that the fans (and wrestlers!)
have seen in the former Thrill, and Sarah said that "Commissioner
Sentowski" (we were chastised for referring to him as "Thrill"), has
decided to "show his more serious side, since this is a company and
must be run more as a company". We questioned her about the very
lovely fur coat she was wearing, and enquired if it was new, which, to
our relief, she said was not. However, she did say that she "can't
exactly" say it came out of her salary, and when we suggested that
perhaps it came out of Commissioner William's salary, all we got for
an answer was, "you can say that". When we commented that her answer
wasn't exactly a "yes", she confirmed that her answer was not exactly
a yes, which wasn't the confirmation we were looking for. We pressed
for a more exact answer, but were unable to get one from Sarah, so we
turned our attention to the next bout, "K-Train" Kody Rice vs.
"Cadillac" Nick Colucci vs. "Diamond Dave" Demone for the ACW
Heavyweight Title.
Colucci puts his title on the line against two guys known for their
tag teams. Rice is known for his team, Snakes on a Train with Jason
Reilley, while Diamond Dave is known not for being the former lead
singer of Van Halen, but for his team with Bobby V, The Playas In
Pink...errr, The "Sharp Dressed Men" (although we fail to see what is
so "sharp dressed" about either one of these two). In this three-way
match, will any of their tag team partners make a difference? For
that matter, is Colucci's choice of opponents reflecting his desire to
hold onto the belt at any cost?
Demone attacks Rice before Nick Colucci is even in the ring, which is
no doubt good news for "Cadillac", and precisely what he was hoping
for, that the other two will rip each other apart and he can just pick
up whatever is left. Rice gains the upper hand before too long and
drops Demone with a reverse neckbreaker. Rice covers Demone, but only
gets a two count. It's probably a little early in the match to
attempt a pin, but with the ACW Championship the proverbial "gold at
the end of the rainbow", Rice and Demone will both do whatever they
can to get the win and the coveted championship.
Colucci is still outside the ring, observing the fight from a safe
spot next to the manager of Demone, Jamie the Weasel. K-Train again
attempts a pin on Diamond Dave, but again is unsuccessful. Colucci
carefully picks the most opportune time to enter the ring, attacking
Kody Rice with a series of elbows to the face, and then stomping on
both of the other two wrestlers in the match. From the outside, Jamie
the Weasel protests about Colucci attacking his man, Diamond Dave
Demone.
The "K-Train" manages to make it to his feet, and shoves Demone into
the corner for his signature "freight train" splash, but Demone
recognises it, and hurriedly gets out of the way, allowing Rice to
crash into the empty corner turnbuckles. Demone takes advantage of
this sudden opportunity to cover Kody Rice, but only gets a two count,
despite the premature celebration from Demone's manager.
Demone locks Rice in a front facelock, but that leaves him vulnerable
to an attack by Colucci. In a Triangle match such as this, you truly
need to have eyes in the back of your head, and maybe in extra set of
arms. Colucci chops at the chest of Demone again. Demone fights back
with a kick to the chest, doubling over Colucci, and then raining down
a series of forearms across the back of the Champion. Kody Rice
continues the attack on Colucci, but since only one can win, Demone
attacks Rice to make sure he doesn't gain too much of an advantage
over the Champion. Seizing the moment, Colucci rolls out of the ring
for another break, but he is quickly followed by Diamond Dave, who is
tossed out of the ring by big Kody Rice. Rice follows Demone to the
outside, and with all three wrestlers outside the ring, the referee
begins to count them all out.
"Weasel" argues with the referee to attempt to break the count, while
Kody Rice is attacked by Cadillac Colucci. With Rice being tied up by
Colucci, Jamie the Weasel encourages Diamond Dave to get inside the
ring to stay alive in the match. He might not win the belt that way,
but he can win the match, and that could get him more matches with the
ACW Champion. Kody Rice rolls Nick Colucci into the ring before
getting back in himself, and covers Colucci for another two count pin
attempt. Colucci then covers Rice, but Demone breaks up that attempt.
Colucci then tries to pin Diamond Dave, but now Kody Rice breaks up
that pin attempt. Rice then takes the offence again with a forearm to
the face of Diamond Dave and a kick to the midsection, driving
Demone's face to the mat when he is doubled over. Colucci takes
advantage of the opportunity, kicking Kody Rice in the face and
covering Demone himself, hooking the leg for extra leverage, but is
still only able to get a two count before Colucci is pulled off by
Rice. In all actuality, Demone was no doubt inadvertently assisted by
Rice in kicking out of Colucci's pin attempt.
Rice, in control again uses his power to kick Demone in the head and
the gut, and then delivers a forearm to the face of Colucci for good
measure. Rice whips Colucci into the ropes and then drops him to the
mat with a sidewalk slam. Rice then chops Demone across the chest,
firmly in control of the match now. Rice whips Demone into the corner
and again goes to the opposite corner for his signature "freight
train" move, this time catching Demone, squashing him in the corner.
Rice moves back to go for a second try, but Weasel interferes,
grabbing the championship belt and trying to club Rice over the head
with it, when security comes down to ringside and attempts to pull the
belt away from Weasel. In the middle of the chaos, Colucci seizes
the opportunity to pin Kody Rice, hanging onto the ACW Championship
for another night.
Adrian Lynch teams with "God's Gift To Women" Kevin Krueger to take on
Justin Dredd & Jerry Stylz.
Had Stylz and Dredd captured the ACW Tag Team Championship at ACW's
Season's Beatings, then this match would have been for those titles.
As it is, Stylz and Dredd will have a lot on their plate with this
veteran team. Stylz's former tag team with Lynch may give him some
insight into how to defeat them, but while Stylz may know everything
Lynch taught him, he might not know everything Lynch knows.
Dredd comes to the ring, but does not enter, instead he literally
pulls up a chair and sits in it, no doubt in protest to the "you suck"
chants from the crowd that are progressively getting louder, and the
"UNC" chants that taunt Duke University's own Jerry Stylz (although
we're not sure if Duke wants anything to do with Stylz).
Krueger is all gentlemanly-like, holding the ropes open for Dredd and
Stylz, while Lynch makes a welcoming gesture with his arms, inviting
the two to enter the ring any time. Jerry Stylz irks their opponents
by making a big show of going through a stretching routine, as the two
indicate that they will enter the ring as soon as Krueger and Lynch
exit, or at least stand all the way on the opposite side. Lynch and
Krueger comply with the request, and Dredd & Stylz cautiously make
their approach to the ring, but the second they are on the apron,
Lynch and Krueger rush to attach, causing Stylz and Dredd to back off
again.
Another "you suck" chant begins, directed at Stylz and Dredd. On the
ring apron again, the referee tries to get all the wrestlers in the
ring so the match can begin. Dredd and Stylz drop down to the floor
again and discuss some strategy with each other the second Lynch &
Krueger move to attack.
Finally, Stylz and Dredd are in the ring long enough that the referee
can check Stylz for weapons, making sure Lynch and Krueger stay back.
The ref rings the bell, and Lynch starts off with Stylz, circling
each other. Stylz backs up into the ropes and Lynch, frustrated,
kicks Stylz in the back. Stylz exits for yet another conference with
his partner.
In the end, despite the best efforts of Dredd and Stylz, the crafty
veterans are able to pull out a win.
Rev. Ben Johnson comes to ringside introduces Mason Quinn's opponent,
Douglas "Do-Right" Peterson. Rev. Ben busies himself chewing out
Quinn ringside while Peterson prepares for his second match of the
night.
Douglas Peterson is used to being the underdog, and has most recently
been battling Shane Hills, who broke Peterson's arm in one of their
more recent encounters. Peterson, showing the persistence and
determination that endears him to the ACW and NWA-WI fans, worked
through the injury and continued to battle Hills.
The two lock up, and Quinn starts off with a bodyslam of his smaller
opponent, and then picks him up to whip him into the ropes, levelling
him with a clothesline. With the Rev. Ben ringside, Quinn knows the
match is more than just a warm-up, as Dinn T. Moore comes to the ring,
sending Peterson away. Quinn sends Dinn T. out of the ring with a
forearm smash to the chin. Quinn rolls back in the ring, but Dinn T.
follows, and when Quinn moves to attack, Dinn T. rolls outside again.
Dinn T. calls for a time out, which Quinn ignores, but Dinn T. is
able to get a shot in on Quinn's ribs.
However, Quinn is just as efficient on the mat, and manages to get
Dinn T. in a side headlock on the mat. Dinn T. rolls Quinn into a
pinning position, but Quinn rolls Dinn T. back to where he wants him
before the three count. Dinn T. fights to his feet, and sends himself
off the ropes, but Quinn fells him with a shoulderblock tackle. Rev.
Ben interferes again, grabbing at the arm of Quinn, allowing Dinn T.
to further wrench the arm from inside the ring. Dinn T. continues to
attack Quinn while Rev. Ben is chewed out by the referee for his
interference.
The crowd begins to chant "you suck" and "brokeback mountain" at Dinn
T. Moore, who ignores it, but takes out his frustrations on Quinn,
continuing to work over Quinn's arm. Dinn T. slams Quinn and quickly
covers him, but only gets a two count. Undeterred, he continues to
work on the arm of Quinn, while jawing with some of the fans in the
front row, and making as if he is interested in kissing some of the
female fans (although we're not so sure if the females feel the same
way). Quinn takes advantage of Dinn T.'s distraction, but Dinn T.
fires back with a punch and kick to Quinn's hurt shoulder, and further
aggravates it by wrapping it around the second rope and pulling hard,
trying to dislocate the shoulder joint.
Dinn T. distracts the referee so manager Ben Johnson can do some dirty
work, and after Ben "does the deed", Dinn T. knocks Quinn down with a
standing shoulderblock, and quickly covers Quinn again, but is still
only able to get a two count. Dinn T., clearly frustrated, stands up
Quinn in the corner and continues to work on the arm, while the crowd
shows their support for Quinn, chanting "Champ", and alternating with
abuse for Dinn T, with a chant of "Dinn T. sucks".
Dinn T. attempts to use his weight as an advantage, attempting to
splash Quinn, but Quinn raises his knees at the last minute to block.
Dinn T. recovers fairly fast, and attempts an elbow drop, but Quinn
simply rolls out of the way. Quinn makes his way to his feet and
throws a punch at Dinn T., which is blocked, so instead Quinn whips
Dinn T. into the ropes, catching him with a clothesline, which fells
Dinn T., but Quinn is in fairly rough shape himself. With both men on
the mat, the referee starts to count them down, while Rev. Ben is
encouraging his charge from outside the ring.
With both men back on their feet, Quinn ducks a Dinn T. clothesline
and lands a punch to the kidneys of Dinn T. (kidney beans in the stew,
maybe?) before picking him up for an overhead Samoan drop and then
covers Dinn T., hooking the leg, but Quinn is unable to get the three
count needed for the victory. Dinn T. retaliates with an illegal eye
rake, drops him with a clothesline and covers him again, but is again
unable to get a three count. Dinn T. argues with the referee,
complaining that it should have been a three count, but the referee
won't be intimidated or bullied.
Dinn T. shoves Quinn into the corner and charges him, but Quinn moves
out of the way and Dinn T. crashes into the corner. A "let's go
Quinn" chant begins. Quinn picks Dinn T. out of the corner and
delivers a big powerslam, covering Dinn T., hooking the leg, but the
referee doesn't see it, thanks to Rev. Ben Johnson's diversion. Quinn
attempts to get the referee's attention, but it gave Dinn T. the time
he needed to recover, as he punches Quinn. Dinn T. reaches into his
pants to get some kind of powder, but Quinn spots it, and kicks it in
the face of Dinn T., blinding him. Quinn takes the opportunity to
have a sweet taste of revenge on Rev. Ben, blasting him in the face
with a forearm, and is now ready for Dinn T. Quinn suplexes Dinn T.,
covers him and gets the three count, retaining the NWA Wisconsin
Championship.
Spanish Stew (Dinn T. Moore & "El Vato" Jose Guererro) vs. The
Original GQ Centerfolds ("Tasty" Travis Lee & "Love Machine" Matt
Longtime with manager Angelo Stefano). As you recall, the GQ
Centerfolds recently reunited at All-Star Championship Wrestling's
10th Anniversary Show, and just like ACW, the GQ Centerfolds are once
again showing why they are one of the best teams ever to come out of
ACW. With Dinn T.'s earlier breakup of his team with Vato during the
opening battle royal, it's clear that Spanish Stew won't be seen
together during this match.
Accompanying the original GQ's to the ring is their original manager,
Angelo Stefano, who boasts that if the makeshift team of Hammers and
El Vato can defeat his GQ Centerfolds, he will let El Vato have 5
minutes alone in the ring with him. Stefano then ups the stakes a
little further by slapping El Vato.
The bell rings and the action begins. The GQ Centerfolds beat on
Vato. Outside the ring, Stefano needs to have someone advise him on
his fashion sense (or lack thereof), not to mention the fact that
"crack kills". As Vato gains control, the Centerfolds bail out of the
ring. Vato is about to dive out of the ring after them, but at the
last second, thinks better of it.
However, it is still a two on one when the GQ's get back into the
ring, as Longtime swings Vato into the clothesline of "Tasty" Travis
Lee. Then, the two switch off, with Lee swinging Vato into Longtime's
clothesline, and Lee dropkicks Vato for good measure.
However, Vato also knows how to play dirty, ducking a clothesline by
Longtime, so that he accidentally nails his partner. The two
Centerfolds almost come to blows over the accident. We might see
another team break up tonight if Vato has it his way. However, it is
not to be, as the GQ's quickly make up. They can't enjoy it for too
long, as they are on the receiving end of a dropkick from El Vato.
The GQ Centerfolds bounce back quickly, and Vato finds himself on the
receiving end of a clothesline from "Love Machine" Matt Longtime,
while Travis Lee goes to the outside of the ring and the match is
finally one on one.
Longtime attacks the arm of El Vato, who fights back with a series of
forearms. Vato heads to the ropes, but the GQ Centerfolds' manager
pulls down the rope. It's very nearly a three on one with Stefano
present, but it is the mark of a good manager, one that will do
whatever it takes to insure his charges win.
Longtime has Vato down in the corner, and smacks the referee in the
ass as a distraction. With the referee arguing with Longtime, it
allows Stefano to abuse Vato some more. Longtime turns back his
attention to Vato, c lamping on a rear chinlock, further weakening him
by straining his chest and neck muscles. Vato, in pain, reaches
outside of the ring, perhaps seeking a tag, but no one is able to help
him.
Longtime tags to Travis Lee, while Vato is still desperately hoping
for a tag, perhaps wishing his partner will come to the ring and help.
However, for right now, Vato is in the wrong corner, and reaches out
to Matt Longtime, who kicks him to Lee, who stomps on Vato before
making a quick tag back out. Longtime continues the abuse on Vato
with a choke. The referee counts to break the hold, and Longtime
complies, but then immediately goes back to choke again. Longtime
whips Vato into the boot of Travis Lee and a tag is made, bringing
"The Tasty One" back into the ring. Using double team tactics, the GQ
Centerfolds whip Vato into the ropes, and Lee hoists him up for
Longtime to finish, but Vato takes Longtime down, finding an
opportunity for offence. Vato dropkicks Travis, and hiptosses Matt
Longtime. Lee gets to his feet and Vato gives him a hiptoss for good
measure. Vato hiptosses both of the GQs, then picks up Longtime to
whip him into the opposite corner, and then into his partner. Vato
takes the opportunity to take a quick breather outside the ring, but
it's very quick, as Longtime takes him back into the ring with a smack
on the ass before covering him for a two count.
At that moment, hitting the ring is one of the founders of All-Star
Championship Wrestling, the Straight Edge, Eric Hammers. Hammers
attacks Longtime, and the referee has to physically pull off Hammers
and get him out of the ring. Meanwhile, while the referee is busy
with Hammers, Longtime makes a fake "tag" to bring in his partner.
Hammers is in the corner of Vato, trying to get him to tag out, but
Vato may not even realise that Hammers is there yet.
Lee slams Vato's head into the turnbuckle and then stretches Vato over
the middle rope while instigating a fight with Hammers. Lee makes a
fake "tag" to Longtime, bringing him back in. The crowd at
Zielinski's is very pro-Vato, but right now the GQ's have the popular
Vato right where they want him. Longtime has Vato in a headlock.
Vato very nearly turns it into an atomic drop, but Longtime re-asserts
his control. Vato tries to move closer to the corner, possibly to tag
to Hammers, and finally reaches him for the tag! The referee did not
see the tag, so he disallows it, forcing Hammers back while the GQs
make another fake "tag", keeping Vato in their corner. Tasty Travis
Lee suplexes Vato, covers him and hooks the leg, but is only able to
get a two count as somehow Vato is able to find the strength to kick
out.
The crowd begins to chant "GQ sucks", and Angelo Stefano tries to
encourage a chant that is not quite as disparaging toward his charges.
Travis Lee clotheslines Vato and then chokes him. Travis Lee makes a
legal tag to his corner, and the GQs once again make use of double
team strategy with a double whip into the ropes and a double
clothesline. Longtime covers Vato, but again only gets a two count.
Another legal tag is made by the GQs and Longtime is in again, while
Vato still struggles to make a tag. Vato finally manages to get to
his corner and make the tag, bringing in the Straight Edge!
Clothesline for Longtime and a punch for Lee. Hammers kicks Longtime
right between his legs! Hammers tries to whip Lee into the ropes, but
Lee reverses, but Hammers turns it into a swinging DDT, covering
Travis Lee for the pinfall victory!
According to Stefano's earlier challenge, if Vato won the match, he
could have five minutes with Stefano. Nowhere did Stefano mention
anything about having another partner or anything, so the stipulation
should hold, and Hammers is looking to enforce it, bringing Stefano
into the ring, and kicking him into the corner, and whipping him into
Longtime. Vato is whipped into the corner by Hammers, avalanching
Longtime and Stefano. Stefano falls to the mat, and Hammers
clotheslines Matt Longtime. Longtime staggers out of the corner,
falling to his knees right behind Stefano! Hammers then picks him up
and tosses him right out of the ring, leaving Stefano all alone with
Hammers and Vato.
Hammers relaxes in the corner, watching Vato with amusement as he
moves to shake the hand of Stefano, but fakes him out at the last
second, kicking him in the ribs and setting him up for a DDT. Vato
covers Stefano, and Hammers counts a pinfall on Stefano.
At this time, Jamie the Weasel came up and to our area and had a few
things he wanted to say. He discussed what a fantastic night it was
with the GQ Centerfolds returning to NWA Wisconsin with the "icon of
ACW television" and the "true manager of champions", Angelo Stefano.
We enquired if this meant that Weasel was NOT a "manager of
champions", as he frequently likes to refer to himself as (despite a
rather obvious lack of gold in his camp). Weasel claims that he is
indeed a manager of champions and a great manager, using Diamond Dave
Demone as a reference. When we comment the rather obvious that
Diamond Dave isn't exactly an unbiased opinion, Weasel ignored the
comment, and instead stated that any match with the GQ Centerfolds is
worth the ticket price paid alone. We then asked if Weasel's current
charges, the Playas in Pink (aka The "Sharp Dressed Men") were NOT
worth admission price, and Weasel claimed that they were "the future
of NWA Wisconsin" (a rather dubious claim!)
Weasel then commented that while he had some issues with Dredd and
Stylz, he had to admit that they were a good team, and certainly
better than "Cookie Cutter and Don Juan Gotti", whom we corrected that
it was simply Don Gotti, not Don Juan. Weasel then claimed that the
Dream Police were no better than "what you would see in someone's
backyard". We reminded Weasel that they were former ACW Tag Team
Champions, a feat which his charges have yet to accomplish.
At that point, we needed to cut the "interview" short, as it was time
for the main event.
In our Main Event, NWA Midwest Champion Silas Young takes on WWF/E,
WCW, & AWA Legend, "The Rocker" MARTY JANNETTY, with Silas' belt on
the line!
In the ring, Silas Young demands that the fans in attendance at
Zielinski's Ballroom will respect him, whether they like him or hate
him.
His opponent, Marty Jannetty comes to the ring with a lot more
enthusiasm from the crowd than Silas had. Marty is in the ring and
ready to go, but Silas holds up his NWA Midwest belt as if to taunt
Jannetty. Marty is not impressed with Silas, as he has had his own
fair share of title belts during his career. As if it wasn't already
patently obvious, the crowd demonstrates their support for Jannetty
with a "Marty" chant.
The bell rings and the referee completes his check of Jannetty for
possible weapons. Jannetty then takes the referee, backs him into the
corner and checks HIM for weapons, as he had checked Marty, which
seems fair enough.
Silas wants to start with a test of strength with Marty, but pulls
away at the last second. As Marty takes a step forward, Silas backs
up, carefully trying to take measure of each other. Silas mounts the
turnbuckle to an extremely negative reaction from the fans. Marty
then shows how it's done, mounting the opposite corner turnbuckle to
an overwhelmingly positive response from the fans. Silas tries to
duplicate Marty's success, but fails. Silas tries another corner,
perhaps feeling that the corner makes the difference, but he proves in
quick succession that it's not the corner that makes the difference,
as he is booed no matter which corner he is in, and when Marty goes to
the corner Silas was in, he receives a similar ovation from the fans.
Jannetty invites Silas to the corner, as a show that it's not just
the corner as the reason for the fans' reaction to him. Again, the
reaction for Silas is the exact opposite of what it is for Jannetty.
The contest before the contest begins as Marty and Silas compete for
the attention and affection of the fans. Silas gets a few fans in the
far corner, but The Weasel thinks that perhaps Silas paid off some
fans to cheer for him. Jannetty now goes to the same corner, and is
attacked by Silas the minute his back is turned.
Silas tries to flip over Jannetty, but is pulled down and is hanging
outside of the ring on the top rope by his toes. Jannetty simply
unhooks Silas' boots from the rope, and the NWA Midwest Champion drops
unceremoniously to the floor. Silas is visibly irritated and slowly
makes his way back into the ring.
Silas is now ready to begin the match, and the two lock up. Jannetty
takes the offence with a standing side headlock. Jannetty takes Silas
by the arm, twisting it and pushes him back into the corner. Jannetty
takes Silas down to the mat, putting his knee into Silas' arm. Silas
gets to his feet and reverses the hold into a hammerlock. Jannetty
reverses Silas' reversal, and puts him in a front facelock. Silas
takes a powder outside the ring, and after a moment, cautiously
re-enters, offering a hand to Jannetty, who doesn't buy into Silas'
attempt at honesty. Silas puts out his hand again, but Jannetty is in
doubt about Silas' integrity, and for those who know Silas, they would
similarly be doubting his integrity. Jannetty asks the fans if they
think he should believe Silas. The small, but vocal minority of Silas
fans from earlier indicate that Jannetty should believe Silas (which
would lend some credibility to Weasel's opinion that they have been
bribed by Silas). Silas puts out his hand again, and although
Jannetty is still unsure of Silas, he puts out his hand to Silas anyway.
Silas kicks at Jannetty, but Jannetty is ready, taking the leg and
spinning Silas around, knocking him down with a right handed punch.
Jannetty has Silas on the mat, but Silas comes up off the mat, and
Jannetty goes to chop Silas, who ducks and goes for a neckbreaker.
Jannetty brings Silas into the corner and monkey flips him out of it.
With Jannetty still in charge of the match, Silas punches Jannetty in
the midsection as he gets close. Standing up, he swings Jannetty
towards the corner, but Jannetty reverses and sends Silas into the
corner. Marty moves to dropkick Silas in the corner, but Silas moves
out of the way at the last second, leaving Marty to dropkick the steel
ringpost.
Silas takes the offence, putting the boots to Jannetty. Silas covers
Jannetty, but he kicks out at two. Silas picks up Marty and puts a
fist in his back before throwing him back down to the mat, covering
him, but again only able to get a two count. The crowd gets behind
Jannetty as he tries to punch Silas in the midsection, but Silas
counters and drops a forearm across Jannetty's back and then to the
face for good measure, bringing Jannetty to the ropes, but Jannetty
reverses and does a sunset flip to bring down Silas, who does a great
job maintaining his balance, but a small tug of the tights brings
Silas down to the mat, but Marty is only able to get a two count
himself.
Silas is obviously not happy, and brings Jannetty down, covering him
and hooking the leg, but he is not able to get a three count either.
Silas changes tactics, putting Jannetty in a side headlock. Jannetty
tries to roll himself out of the headlock if he can. The crowd
encourages Jannetty, and he encourages them, in turn. The louder the
crowd noise, the more motivated Jannetty gets, rising to a knee first,
then to his feet. Jannetty throws some shots at Silas, while Silas
struggles to maintain the hold. Jannetty sends Silas to the ropes,
but Silas comes back with a knee to the ribs, following up with a
forearm smash to the back of the neck. Silas again covers Jannetty,
but he kicks out at two again.
Jannetty punches Silas in the gut, then his jaw as he makes his way to
his feet. Jannetty whips Silas into the ropes, but Silas reverses,
sending Jannetty into the turnbuckle. Silas drags the downed Rocker
to the middle of the ring and drops and elbow on him before covering
him, hooking the leg. Still, he can only get a two count before
Jannetty kicks out.
Silas keeps up his attack on Jannetty with a knee to the back before
covering him again, but is still unable to pin Jannetty yet. Silas is
visibly frustrated at his inability to put down the Rocker. Silas
vents his frustration by smacking Jannetty in the head. Jannetty
responds with a punch to the midsection of Silas, so Silas responds
with a kick, whipping Jannetty into the turnbuckle again. This time,
Jannetty is ready, catching Silas with an elbow as he charges him,
following up with a double boot to the face and a clothesline that
catches Jannetty, too. The referee counts as both men lie on the mat,
attempting to get up.
Silas responds first with a punch to Jannetty that is blocked, so
Silas tries again, with similar results, offering a right hand of his
own to Jannetty. Jannetty whips Silas into the ropes, attempting
another clothesline which Silas manages to duck, but he doesn't duck
the back elbow that Jannetty serves up. Jannetty whips Silas into the
ropes again, delivering a clothesline to the midsection of Silas
Young, doubling him over. Jannetty covers, but only gets a two count.
Silas is in trouble in the corner as Jannetty mounts the second
turnbuckle. Jannetty punches Silas in the head while the crowd counts
along. Silas attempt to atomic drop Jannetty, but instead Jannetty
DDT's Silas. Jannetty covers Silas, but Silas drapes his boot over
the bottom rope, forcing the break.
Still in control of the match, Jannetty climbs up on the second rope,
while the crowd calls for the "Rocker Dropper". Jannetty instead
drops a fist on Silas, and is caught with the raised boot of Silas. A
staggered Jannetty is taken from behind by Silas, but Jannetty pushes
Silas up to the ropes, rolling him over for a cover, but Silas rolls
all the way over, and then grabs a handful of Jannetty's tights for
extra leverage.
Silas Young retains his Championship but it's a tainted victory.
Silas taunts Jannetty, who complains to the referee about the pull of
the tights. Jannetty challenges Silas to beat him fair and square,
but Silas isn't interested, he only cares that he won. Jannetty grabs
Silas, spinning him around so he is face to face. Jannetty clearly
has a lot on his mind right now. The crowd again calls for the Rocker
Dropper, and Silas swings his championship belt to try to slam it into
Marty's face, but Marty nearly takes off Silas' head with a superkick.
