ALL-STAR CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING 10TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW RESULTS   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #344 of 421 |
Saturday, July 12 was perhaps the most important event in the history
of Wisconsin wrestling as All-Star Championship Wrestling celebrated
their 10 year anniversary with a stacked card featuring several of the
stars that have been part of ACW over the past decade, in addition to
numerous stars of the current generation of ACW Superstars.

For the benefit of those not aware, ACW is the federation that
graduated WWE stars Mr. Kennedy (formerly known as Kamikaze Ken
Anderson) and Hornswoggle (formerly known as "The World's Sexiest
Midget" Shortstack). Also, current ACW superstar J-Ca$h has appeared
on Sunday Night Heat.

As fans of independent wrestling know, for ANY wrestling promotion to
survive for 10 years is a feat worthy of the type of celebration that
ACW put on. All-Star Championship Wrestling is the longest running
promotion in the state of Wisconsin, this NWA Affiliate (since 2003)
has had people through the ranks such as Jerry "The King" Lawler;
TNA's ODB; Alex Shelley; Petey Williams and his trainee Phil Atlas;
Abyss; Daivari; Raven; Angel (Angelina Love) Williams and Gangrel,
who held the ACW Championship at one point, as well as Jim "The Anvil"
Neidhart; Abdullah The Butcher; "The Living Legend" Larry Zybyszko;
The Honky Tonk Man; Luna Vachon and the late Chris Candido.

ACW also has had TV shows on Time Warner cable InDemand and also on
NBC in the Green Bay area.

For their 10th Anniversary, ACW returned to their original "Home of
ACW", the "ACW Arena", if you will, at the Watering Hole and brought
back several members of the family for this loaded card.

For the first time since 2002, the ORIGINAL GQ CENTERFOLDS, "Tasty"
Travis Lee and "The Love Machine" Matt Longtime re-united to take on
the "streameriffic" Dream Police, the ACW Tag Team Champions!!!! This
match saw the Dream Police get some "dancing" lessons from The GQ
Centerfolds (along with some head bobbing that would make D-Lo Brown
envious!) Although it would have been quite a feather in the cap of
the reunited GQ Centerfolds to capture the belts the first night back
together, it was not to be, as the Dream Police proved that they
belong among the ranks of the great ACW Tag Team Champions of the
past, a prestigious group that includes the former Mr. Anderson (now
Mr. Kennedy), among others.

The show opens up with Tejas in the middle of the ring, boasting how
he did what was not only the impossible, but also the unthinkable. He
unmasked the mighty demon Sam Hayne, and Hayne has not been seen in
ACW since his unmasking. Tejas calls out for the demon, and Hayne
slowly and carefully makes his way to the ring without the usual fiery
torches, accompanied as always by Mystique, with his face still
covered in the towel, the way it was when Tejas unmasked him. Hayne
somehow just does not seem as impressive and scary without his
trademark mask, nor does Tejas look quite right holding it. Tejas
gloats about his big victory over the demon, and taunts him into
seeing what is under the towel. Hayne backs away as Tejas moves for
the towel, but Tejas is intent on making a big splash on the 10th
Anniversary of ACW by showing everyone what the demon Hayne looks like
without his mask. Tejas boasts that not even Hayne can be that ugly.
Turning to face the crowd, Tejas moves faster than Hayne expected, and
snatches the towel from the head of the demon. Tejas' moral victory
evaporates as he is face to mask with Sam Hayne, wearing a brand-new
mask! One could almost swear that Hayne is smiling under the mask as
he raises his masked head up high. Certainly, there is a big enough
smile for two on the face of Hayne's faithful second, Mystique.

As Hayne advances toward Tejas, no doubt to reclaim what was taken,
the McCoys (Mickey and Chase) hit the ring to attack Sam Hayne.
Mystique tries to help, but is of little effect against the triple
team of the McCoys and Tejas. Then Kujo hits the ring to even up the
odds a little bit in favour of Hayne. Although the "mad dog of war"
and Hayne have had major battles in the past, they also have a
tremendous amount of respect for each other. The odds however, are
still in the favour of Tejas and the McCoys until ACW co-founder Eric
Hammers makes his way to the ring, in his first appearance since the
ACW reunion and Hall of Fame induction a few years back! Hammers
makes his return an active one, agreeing to even up the odds with
Hayne and Kujo, volunteering to be the third man in their battle.

In the opening contest, high-flying Dysfunction battles the returning
Bobby V. Bobby hasn't been seen in ACW in several months, but you
couldn't tell from the way he took on "Dys". Both men are high
flyers, although Dys has the edge in experience, and it's that
experience that allows him to pin Bobby.

In a Battle of the Generations, it's "Old School" vs. "New School" as
former ACW Tag Team Champions Shane Hills, Rob Norwood, and J-Ca$h
(also a former ACW Heavyweight Champion, the final one before Sam
Hayne retired the belt) battle former X-Division Champion Justin
Dredd, current X-Division Champion Thomas Walton III and Jerry Stylz.
There is a lot of talent in that ring, and its very nearly X-Division
Champions vs Heavyweight Champions (Shane Hills is also a former ACW
Heavyweight Champion). It's time for the "new breed" in ACW to see if
they have what it takes to hang with the "ACW Originals" and prove
that they belong in an ACW ring. In an athletic and hard-hitting
contest that saw the action spill out of the ring and all over the
arena, former X-Division Champion Justin Dredd channeled ACW veteran
"The Hardcore Luchadore" Dino Bambino, diving off the top of the Rapid
Party Cool Bus on his opponents. In the end, the veterans proves that
they still have a few tricks up their sleeve and aren't quite ready to
"hang up their tights" and call it quits just yet. The respect level
for all of these athletes is so great that Norwood, Hills and Ca$h
celebrate victory with their opponents, as handshakes and hugs are
exchanged all around as the "ACW Originals" let the "new blood" know
that they have what it takes to be the next generation of stars
All-Star Championship Wrestling.

The moment is made even more special when "Pimp Daddy" Rob Norwood
gets on the microphone and announces that the 10th Anniversary of the
promotion where he achieved his greatest fame is the perfect time to
make the announcement that he is retiring from active competition, a
surprise announcement that not even his teammates were aware of, as
Shane Hills takes the microphone and expresses the surprise that is
doubtless felt by everyone in the arena. The crowd reacts to
Norwood's announcement with a standing ovation, and there is little
doubt that Norwood's name will be in contention for a spot in the ACW
Hall of Fame next year. One of the many memorable moments this night
holds.

ACW veteran Dana Hilton returns to action against Mystique in ladies
action. Miss Hilton have been away from the ring for a long time.
When she was last here, Mystique was not actively competing in ACW.
However, like that "other" Hilton female, there is little
doubt that Dana will do whatever it takes to achieve victory. Dana
starts the match aggressively, attacking the taller Mystique's legs,
trying to ground her.

Dana, knowing she has some ring rust, keeps Mystique down by smartly
attacking the inside of her knee and grounding her. For all the
momentum Mystique gains, Dana is quick to take it from her. Despite
greater experience in an ACW ring, Mystique boats more experience
overall than her opponent, who is expecting an easy battle against
someone whom, in her view, relies on being the second to the
intimidating Sam Hayne then learning how to defend herself.

Mystique, grounded by Dana's attack does her best to mount an offence,
knowing this is a major chance to prove herself against one of the ACW
originals, struggles mightily against Dana Hilton, who continues her
singular assault against Mystique. Mystique rallys a comeback against
Dana, who finds out that Mystique is one tough competitor on her own.
Even on one leg, Mystique is able to take advantage of Dana's smaller
stature and her ring rust to roll her up for a quick victory.

Sam Hayne is a very unhappy demon. Tejas stole his mask a few months
ago, and although Hayne has a new mask, he has yet to get adequete
revenge. However, Tejas is not alone, as he has Mickey and Chase
McCoy to team with him against Hayne. However, Hayne is not alone,
either. ACW veteran Kujo and co-founder Eric Hammers team with him to
even the odds. Kujo is not an unknown quantity in ACW, but is an
unknown quantity to the McCoy brothers, however, the inverse applies
as well. Will that factor in, or has Kujo taken the time to study
tapes of the current crop of ACW superstars? Certainly Kujo has
learned a bit about the "new generation" in ACW during his time behind
the broadcast booth.

Out of the locker room first comes Tejas and his partners, the McCoys.
However, their posturing is short-lived as they scatter as Sam Hayne
comes to the ring with his trademark flaming torches, and is flanked
by Eric Hammers and Kujo.

Hayne lights his torches and breathes fire in The Watering Hole,
heating things up literally as the action and anticipation heat things
up figuratively.

There is no love lost between any of the competitors in the ring, and
it shows, as pacing goes out the window in this match as all six men
brawl all over the ring.

It doesn't take long for Hayne, Kujo and Hammers to defeat the team of
Tejas and the McCoys. Certainly, the hatred Hayne has for Tejas
played a big part of it, but there is no doubt that no one in the ring
was prepared for the in-ring return of co-founder Eric Hammers, which
played no small part in the victory.

In the special ACW Invitational Rumble, open to anyone who has ever
wrestled in ACW, "The Nicest Guy in ACW", Douglas "Do-Right" Peterson
found himself with the luck of the Irish on his side, as NWA Legend
"Irish" Mickey Doyle lent a helping hand and some of his luck to
Peterson. Fans, Mickey Doyle is in the most phenomenal shape we have
ever seen for a man of his age. This man is built better than some
guys twenty years his junior! The Rumble featured plenty of returning
veterans and some of the current crop of ACW Superstars. ACW veterans
The Baron, Busty Loads, Judge Jesse, and Da Weezel were among the
veterans in this match, while "Snake Eyes" Jason Reiley, "K-Train"
Kody Rice, "Cabbage" Chris Reitz, Diamond Dave Demone and Tony Mega
comprised the "new generation" in ACW, along with "Irish" Mickey
Doyle, who gave an assist to Peterson at the end, ensuring the big win
and proving that nice guys don't always finish last!

Fans, words just simply do not do justice to NWA Legend Mickey Doyle.
This man is a class act all the way. If you have ever been to an
event with a "special guest" who acted like they were "phoning it in",
then Mickey Doyle is the exact opposite of that. Mickey took the time
to get to know everyone in attendance from fans to the wrestlers,
production crew, staff and special guests. Truly a legend and a class
act. Hats off to you, Mickey Doyle! (But hey, can ya do anything
about that "other" Mickey, that McCoy fella? Him and his brother
Chase give Irish folk a bad name!)

In the ACW Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, ACW co-founder Mike
"Mercury" Krause joined his co-founder Eric Hammers. A special video
package was shown of the retired "Superstar" Mike Mercury and then the
former "Ice Cream Man" was greeted in the ring by several "ACW
Originals" who proceeded to pass out ice cream to the fans in
attendance! (This was appropriate on more than one level, as ACW
certainly was turning up the heat in this show!)

The ACW Heavyweight Championship, last worn by Sam Hayne has been
reactivated, and now NWA WI Champion Mason Quinn battles "Cadillac"
Nick Colucci for a BRAND NEW TITLE BELT! Will Quinn be a dual
Champion at the end of the night? If so, he will be the first dual ACW
& NWA-WI Champion in the promotion's history! The GQ Centerfolds were
unable to make history tonight, will Mason Quinn have better luck?

Colucci, as challenger, is introduced first, followed by the reigning
NWA Wisconsin Champion, Mason Quinn. Quinn has held the belt since
October of 2007, and winning the ACW Championship could be a huge
feather in his cap, to be associated with the distinguished lineage of
the strap.

The match goes back and forth, with the advantage changing frequently.
Mason, the veteran has more experience, but Colucci has come a long
way since his early days as a tag team wrestler. Both men have
extensive experience at wrestling outside of the rules, and use it to
their advantage.

However, in the end, it is Colucci who suddenly rolls up Quinn to
become the NEW ACW Heavyweight Champion!

The attendance was terrific at this show, as fans were lining up
outside hours before doors opened to see this spectacular event. It
was without a doubt, one of the most memorable nights in professional
wrestling as a whole, and Wisconsin wrestling in particular. If you
aren't able to see ACW live, make sure to get a tape. They have an
extensive back catalogue, and are one of the very few promotions that
offers all their releases. They are in the process of mastering their
back catalogue to DVD, but all you need to do is simply drop us a line
and ask for our complete catalogue which will have all of ACW's
extensive video releases available. Also, check out our photos
section on myspace which will have several photos of ACW DVD cover art
posted. Plus, you've got to see their 10th Anniversary t-shirts!
