The revived All-Star Championship Wrestling, under promoter Rev. Ben
Johnson, held Maximum Detention 2007 on Sept. 15th.
The night kicks off with the Reverend and
his "Congregation", "Cadillac" Nick Colucci, Miss Anne, Thomas Walton
III, Tejas, and C. Martin McClure in the center of the ring. Colucci
begs Reverend Ben for a match against J-Cash. Colucci may find his
wish granted sooner than he had expected as J-Cash makes his way to
the ring. As Rev. Ben holds back Cash, Cash offers to take on
Colucci later on this evening if Colucci doesn't have a match
scheduled. Ben Johnson finally lays down the law with these two
athletes, threatening to suspend them if either one of them touches
the other prior to their match.
Ben Johnson announces the match for J-Cash: against Daryk St. Holmes,
Esq.! J-Cash pressures Ben to reveal whom Nick Colucci must face
tonight, so Ben announces Colucci's match against "the nicest guy in
ACW", Douglas "Do-Right" Peterson!
With these two matches set, the show begins. Starting out tonight,
the K-Train, Kody Rice teams with Mickey McCoy to face the team of
Adrian Lynch and his partner, Jerry Stylz. Stylz, a long-time fan of
Lynch, has recently started teaming with Lynch, learning all he can
from his idol and role model. Lynch begins the match with Rice,
stalling for time in the corner, conferring with his partner, Stylz.
After buying a few extra seconds, Lynch finally locks up with Rice,
backing him into the corner. The referee calls for the break, and
Lynch backs off with a clean break. Once back in the center of the
ring, the two lock up again. Lynch takes control with a standing
side headlock. Lynch backs into the ropes, and Kody Rice shoves
Lynch off, into the opposite side of the ring. Lynch comes off the
ropes and shoulderblocks the K-Train, sending the bigger man to the
mat. Kody Rice regains his feet, and attempts to hip toss Lynch, but
Lynch sends him crashing to the mat once again with a clothesline.
As Rice attempts to regain his footing once again, Lynch stops him
with a right hand punch, taking Rice to a knee. As Rice fights back,
Lynch steps up the fight with a series of right hands and a big right
foot from Lynch. With Rice stooped over, Lynch clamps on a side
headlock again, continuing to apply pressure, cutting off the blood
flow to Rice. Lynch follows up with a punch to the face, bringing
Rice to his knees again. Lynch sends Rice into the ropes again.
Rice ducks under the clothesline by Lynch, going to the opposite
side, and sends Lynch down to the mat for the first time with a big
shoulderblock tackle off the ropes.
Lynch takes the high road, tagging to his partner Stylz, while Rice
does likewise. The two fresh men are in the ring now. McCoy and
Rice are the clear fan favourites as McCoy locks up with Stylz in the
center of the ring. McCoy gains the upper hand with an arm drag, and
quickly tags back to his corner, letting Rice back into the action.
McCoy and Rice take advantage of the five count to have McCoy get out
of the ring with some double-teaming. Rice continues the work of his
partner, wrenching the arm of Stylz. Rice continues the quick tags,
utilizing good teamwork, never allowing one man to get too tired, as
he tags to McCoy. McCoy scales the turnbuckles, coming down with a
double axhandle on the shoulder of Stylz. McCoy continues to work on
the arm of Stylz by wrenching it again, utilizing an offensive
strategy of wearing down a single body part. Stylz gets enough
leverage to send McCoy into the ropes, but McCoy quickly recovers,
and brings Stylz down to the mat, putting him in a side headlock.
Stylz again fights his way back to his feet, sending McCoy into the
ropes near the corner. Stylz follows up his attack on McCoy in the
corner, but the referee calls for the break. Stylz, ignoring the
referee's calls for a clean break, sends McCoy into the opposite
corner after wearing him down with a series of punches, and Adrian
Lynch further weakens McCoy with a knee to his back from the corner.
McCoy displays his Irish temper as he attacks Lynch, giving Stylz the
opportunity he needed to attack McCoy from behind and send him
outside the ring. The two quickly brawl their way back inside the
ring, where Stylz now finds himself in charge of the match, landing a
series of right hands over the backside of McCoy. Stylz works a
strategy similar to Rice and McCoy, wearing down one part of the
body, choosing the back, as he puts McCoy in a backbreaker.
As much as the crowd was behind McCoy and Rice, they hate Lynch and
Stylz, as a chant breaks out of "Jerry sucks". Stylz ignores it,
putting McCoy in a Samoan drop, and rolling over him for a cover.
Hooking the leg, he still only gets a two count. McCoy begins to
fight back, shooting some elbows into the face of Stylz, but the
reprieve is only temporary, as Stylz takes McCoy down to the mat
again, knocking the wind out of his sails with a tremendous belly to
back suplex after sending him into the ropes. Stylz once again hooks
the leg, but again, only scores a two count. Stylz makes the tag to
Lynch for the first time tonight, as he sends McCoy into the corner,
introducing the face of McCoy to the boot of Lynch.
Lynch continues the offence with a boot to the midsection of McCoy,
followed up by a right hand, knocking McCoy to the canvas. Lynch
quickly covers McCoy, but as his partner did, he, too, only scores a
two count. Lynch continues to wear down McCoy with a rear chin lock,
keeping up the pressure, but McCoy fights back, delivering a series
of elbows to the midsection of Lynch as McCoy struggles to make his
way back to his feet. Lynch gets in his last bit of offence on McCoy
as he sends him into the ropes and crashing down on the mat with a
backdrop, but McCoy demonstrates good ring awareness and grabs onto
Lynch's ankles for the sunset flip, taking Lynch down into the
pinning position, but the wily veteran is not weary enough to be kept
for the three count, and kicks out at two.
Lynch scoops up McCoy and slams him to the canvas, then picks him up
and slams him again. Lynch taunts McCoy to get to his feet, so he
can slam him again. Lynch bends to scoop up McCoy for a bodyslam,
but McCoy grabs at his ankles, rolling Lynch into a small package.
Jerry Stylz rushes to his partner's aid, kicking McCoy to break up
the pin, showing good teamwork. Lynch takes the opportunity to tag
out to Jerry Stylz. Stylz continues the punishment on McCoy,
measuring him for a kick, and then a double ax handle to the back.
Stylz pulls McCoy to his feet by the chin and sends him into the
ropes, catching him off the ropes with a forearm smash.
Stylz picks McCoy up off the ground in a suplex, then rolls McCoy
over for the pin, hooking the leg, but somehow, McCoy again kicks out
at two, although just barely.
At this point, McCoy desperately needs to tag to his corner and let
the fresh man in, and also give himself some time to recover from the
punishment being administered to him by Stylz and Lynch.
Stylz tags to his corner, and then pulls McCoy's arms behind him so
Lynch can get a nice clear boot to McCoy's abdomen. Lynch scoops up
and slams Lynch again, following up with another kick to the gut.
Lynch backs into the ropes, and comes off with an elbow, but McCoy
moves out of the way at the last second, and Lynch misses, crashing
hard to the mat on his elbow. With both men down on the mat, the
referee begins to count them out, as both athletes attempt to get to
their feet, breaking the count. Lynch makes his way to his corner
first, tagging Stylz back in, while McCoy tries to make his way back
to his own corner to tag out.
Stylz rushes to the corner of Rice and McCoy to stop the tag, but he
doesn't make it in time, and McCoy tags out to the fresh Kody Rice!
Rice cleans house, knocking down both Stylz and Lynch. Rice brings
Stylz to the corner, and Stylz fights back with a series of punches
to the head of the big man. Outside the ring, McCoy battles with
Lynch. Lynch shoves McCoy into the steel ring post. Inside the
ring, Stylz has Rice in the corner, and runs toward the corner, to
avalanche the big man, and possibly return the offensive advantage to
Stylz. Kody Rice moves at the last second, and Stylz collides with
the turnbuckles. Rice rolls Stylz in a small package, but the
referee is distracted and unable to count the pin! Lynch enters the
ring, out of view of the referee, and rolls over Kody Rice's small
package, putting Stylz on top! The referee notices the pin, and
counts to three, giving Stylz and Lynch the win.
As Stylz and Lynch make their way back to the dressing room, Markus
Maximus makes his way to the ring, calling out Stylz. Maximus
accuses Stylz of cheating to win in their first encounter last month,
challenging him to a rematch tonight, egging him on by calling
him "Mrs. Stylz", but Jerry still refuses to wrestle again tonight.
However, Thomas Walton III of Rev. Ben Johnson's Congregation comes
out and accepts Markus Maximus' challenge for himself, making his in-
ring wrestling debut against the towering giant.
The match is made and the bell rings. Walton starts off with a
flurry of kicks to the big man, but they seemingly have little effect
on the big man, and he flings Walton away with ease, sending Walton
halfway across the ring, swatting him away as though he were an
insignificant speck that he can't be bothered with.
Walton picks himself up off the canvas, and the two men circle each
other. Walton gets too close to Maximus, and Markus pulls at the
arms of Walton, trying to separate his arms from his torso. Maximus
backs Walton into the corner, while continuing to apply pressure to
Walton's arms. Maximus whips Thomas Walton into the opposite corner,
and Walton crashes to the canvas upon impact with the turnbuckles.
Maximus covers Walton, but only gets a two count before Thomas Walton
kicks out, refusing to lose his debut match so quickly. Maximus
allows Walton to get to his feet, but then sends him right back down
with a hard right hand. Maximus continues to pummel Thomas Walton
III with a flurry of right hands, sending his opponent right back
down to the canvas, where Maximus again covers Walton, only to have
Walton kick out again at two. If Markus Maximus hooked the leg of
Walton when he covered him, he may have scored the three count, but
the match continues instead. Thomas Walton goes back on the
offensive against Markus Maximus with a series of extremely
ineffective shoulderblocks that move Walton more than they do his
larger opponent. Walton tries a new tack, utilising a spin heel kick
to the back of the head of Markus Maximus, and while having roughly
the same effect on Maximus as his other offence, it did have one far
more negative effect, that of making Markus Maximus aware of his
opponent as more than just a distraction, and also angering him,
which is never a wise manoeuvre when your opponent is more than a
foot taller than you.
Maximus picks up Walton and drops him on his head, before flinging
Walton into the ropes, and dropping him in a powerbomb-like manoeuvre
before covering him for a pin. Walton, displaying ring awareness,
drapes his leg over the bottom rope, breaking the pin at two.
Maximus scoops up Walton and slams him to the canvas again, before
picking him up and dropping him hard on his face, covering him for
the pinfall victory, bringing Maximus' record to an even 1 and 1,
while Walton drops his debut match, despite an impressive effort
against Markus Maximus. However, Maximus' size and strength proved
to be just too much for Thomas Walton III. If Markus Maximus can get
a fair match against Jerry Stylz, there is a far better than average
chance that Maximus can defeat Stylz. However, the words "Jerry
Stylz" and "fair match" are not unlike the mix of oil and water, and
just don't seem to go together.
For the next match, "Cadillac" Nick Colucci comes to ringside with
members of Rev. Ben Johnson's Congregation, specifically Miss Anne
and C. Martin McClure. His opponent, "the nicest guy in ACW",
Douglas "Do-Right" Peterson makes his way to the ring, to the delight
of the fans in attendance, shaking the hand of every single fan in
attendance, making his way around ringside, and even to the back of
the arena where several fans are standing, including NWA Wisconsin
promoter, Jason Jerry, insuring every single person in attendance
gets a handshake. It's very clear where Peterson gets his reputation
as the nicest guy in ACW.
Finally, the match starts, and Colucci and Peterson lock up in the
center of the ring, with Colucci gaining the initial advantage with
an arm drag, bringing Peterson down to the mat. Colucci brings
Peterson to his feet, changing his hold into a standing side
headlock. Peterson manages to escape and puts Colucci into a side
headlock of his own, bringing Colucci down to the mat, almost in a
pinning position. Colucci shows his ring savvy, sliding out of
Peterson's headlock, and bringing Peterson's shoulders to the mat for
a one count.
As Peterson kicks out of Colucci's pin attempt, both men get to their
feet. Do-Right shows some of his own ring savvy with an Irish whip
of Colucci into the ropes. Colucci ducks under Do-Right's
clothesline, but falls prey to Peterson on the way back, and is once
again downed with a side headlock. Unfortunately for Peterson,
Colucci makes his way to his feet, and brings Douglas "Do-Right" down
to the mat, stomping on him. Colucci prevents Douglas "Do-Right"
from making his way to his feet with a series of forearms to the
back, and follows up with a hard right hand that sends Peterson back
down to the mat.
Colucci continues to punish Douglas Peterson, choking him across the
middle rope before bringing him down to the bottom rope, where he
puts a knee into the back of Peterson, thereby increasing the
pressure on Peterson's throat and expelling the air from his throat,
preventing him from breathing properly. Miss Anne gets her licks in
on Peterson from outside the ring while he is draped across the
bottom rope. Colucci slams a forearm across the back of Peterson and
pulls his hair, sending Peterson crumpling to the mat again. Colucci
forces the air from Peterson's lungs by bringing him over in a snap
mare takedown. Colucci continues to make sure Peterson cannot take a
breath by placing his knee across the throat of Peterson. Colucci
places a knee in the back of Douglas "Do-Right", adding the pressure
to his rear chinlock.
Peterson somehow manages to escape and get some measure of control
over the match, regaining his footing, and sending Colucci into the
ropes with an Irish whip that Colucci reverses. Colucci sends
Peterson over his back with a monkey flip, and promptly covers
Peterson, hooking the leg, but only gets a two count from it.
Colucci regains control, and once again works to make sure
Douglas "Do-Right" isn't able to catch his breath, bringing Peterson
across his knee with a backbreaker. Colucci maintains his advantage
with a forearm smash, before bringing "Do-Right" into the corner,
whipping him into the opposite corner. Colucci follows up, charging
Peterson, and is rewarded for his efforts by a big boot to the face
from Peterson, who follows up with a bulldog, stunning Colucci.
Peterson pounces on his advantage, dropping Colucci to the mat with a
big dropkick. Miss Anne tries to help the dazed Colucci to his feet
from the corner, but "Do-Right" presses his advantage, flipping
Colucci out of the corner and on his back. Peterson continues to
press the advantage by charging Colucci, but Colucci calls a halt to
Peterson's temporary offensive advantage by dropping him on his
head. Colucci picks up "Do-Right", and levels him with a thunderous
clothesline, covering him for the pin. Colucci's offence proves too
much for Peterson, and his inability to catch a breath during the
match contributed to his downfall, as he is unable to kick out of the
pin, and "Cadillac" Nick Colucci is declared the winner.
After the match, Rev. Ben Johnson and the rest of his Congregation
come to ringside and attack "Do-Right", but Rev. Ben Johnson once
again shows some courage, and protects the helpless "Do-Right",
letting Colucci know that if he wants to attack Peterson after he's
already defeated him, Colucci will just have to go through Rev. Ben
first. This proves to be only a minor obstacle for Colucci, who
turns on the head of the Congregation and attacks him, until NWA
Wisconsin promoter Jason Jerry, of all people, rushes to the ring to
make the save for the man with whom he has had a bitter feud with
several months ago to earn control of NWA Wisconsin!
Colucci shows as much regard for NWA Wisconsin's promoter as he did
for ACW's, and shoves Jason Jerry aside. The security team enters
the ring, pulling Colucci off Jason Jerry, while the rest of Rev.
Ben's former Congregation continues their attack on Jason Jerry and
Rev. Ben. Rushing out from the dressing room, the Dream Police and J-
Cash hit the ring to assist Douglas "Do-Right", Jason Jerry and also
to save Rev. Ben Johnson from his own Congregation. C. Martin
McClure gets on the microphone and issues his own proclamation that
the Congregation is now in control of ACW, in a situation where,
clearly, the student has surpassed the teacher.
Security works to retrain "Cadillac" Colucci, and also prevent J-Cash
from attacking his foe, while Rev. Ben's former
Congregation "celebrates" their "victory". As "Cadillac" Colucci and
other members of Rev. Ben Johnson's former Congregation are escorted
to the back by members of the security team, other members of
security, assisted by J-Cash, whom, like Jason Jerry, has had his
share of differences with the Reverend in the past, help Ben to his
feet and to the back.
The ACW Tag Team Championship is on the line in the next bout as The
Dream Police, "Cookie Cutter" Chris Gambino and Don Gotti defend
against the team of Chase McCoy and "Tattoo" Mark Priebe.
The match begins with "Cookie Cutter" in the ring against "Tattoo"
Priebe. Gambino uses his weight advantage to toss the newcomer
Priebe around the ring, and finally outside of the ring. Priebe
takes advantage of the 10-count he has to confer with his partner
McCoy, and when he re-enters the ring, he tags to his partner, as
does Gambino, so Chase McCoy now faces Don Gotti. Gotti puts McCoy
in a standing side headlock to wear him down, but McCoy shows some
great ability, using a series of elbows to the midsection to get out
of the headlock. Chase continues to press his advantage, heading
into the ropes to charge Gotti with a boot to the gut of Don Gotti
before Gotti could react, and follows up by throwing Gotti to the
mat. McCoy continues to work over Gotti, picking him up from the mat
and doubling him over with a series of forearms to the back. McCoy
brings Gotti over to his corner and utilises double-team manoeuvres
to continue to wear down Gotti.
With the referee accidentally distracted by Gambino, McCoy and Priebe
show some excellent double team manoeuvres, working on Gotti in their
corner. A tag is made, making Priebe the legal man in the ring.
Making the most of the five count that they have for McCoy to exit
the ring, they perform a double vertical suplex on Gotti, and while
McCoy exits the ring, Priebe covers Gotti, but Gotti raises his
shoulder at two. Priebe scoops up Gotti, and he and McCoy work him
over in the corner as Priebe tags out to McCoy, who drapes the throat
of Gotti over the middle rope, choking him. Clearly, McCoy and
Priebe were paying attention to the tactics Nick Colucci used in the
previous match. McCoy adds pressure by delivering a forearm to the
back of Gotti.
The referee breaks up the choke as Gambino attempts to enter the ring
to save his partner. McCoy drop kicks Gotti, and covers him, this
time hooking the leg, unlike the pin attempted by his partner.
Although Gotti doesn't have the leverage to kick out, he has enough
ring awareness to grab hold of the ropes, breaking the count at two.
McCoy continues his assault on Gotti, kicking him in the back before
picking him off the mat and stunning him with a forearm to the face
and whipping him into the ropes. A big clothesline from McCoy,
sending him crashing to the canvas again, greets Gotti. McCoy slaps
on a rear chinlock, but moves his hands up from Gotti's chin to just
under his nose, causing immense pain. The referee spots the illegal
move and counts for a break from McCoy. Gotti manages to make his
way over to his corner, and tags his partner Chris Gambino! The
fresh wrestler takes out both McCoy and Priebe, cleaning house, using
his weight to his advantage with a series of right hand punches.
McCoy and Priebe attempt to take out Gambino with a double kick to
his midsection, and attempt a clothesline, which is ducked by
Gambino, who returns fire with a double "Bionic Elbow". The crowd
shows their support with a "cookie cutter" chant, referring to
Gambino's nickname. Gambino puts McCoy in the corner and avalanches
him, before setting up McCoy's partner in the opposite corner for
another avalanche. Priebe avoids the avalanche by nailing Gambino
with a superkick. Priebe scales the turnbuckles and leaps at
Gambino. However, Gambino catches Priebe in mid-air, and drops him
in a brain buster. Gambino covers Priebe, but McCoy breaks up the
pin at two.
Priebe stomps Gambino on the back of the head before tagging out.
Priebe again uses the full five count he has to leave the ring to his
advantage, trying to move the big man closer to their corner. McCoy
takes over and snaps Gambino's head back, as he and Priebe both cover
Gambino, hooking one leg each in an attempt to pin the much larger
Gambino, but this time Don Gotti runs in to make the save. Gotti
takes McCoy down for a pin, but the referee refuses to count, noting
that Gotti is not the legal man in the ring. Mark Priebe brings
Gotti to the corner, tagging him with a series of forearms to the
face. Priebe sets Gotti up on the top turnbuckle, and starts to
mount the turnbuckles himself when he's stopped by Gambino, who
attempts to powerbomb Priebe. Priebe stops Gambino by hitting him in
the face. Priebe scales the turnbuckles again, but Gambino takes
Priebe and puts him on his wide shoulders. Gotti, still on the top
turnbuckle, stands and leaps off the turnbuckle, clotheslining Priebe
off Gambino's shoulders! Gambino rolls over to cover Priebe. Chase
McCoy runs to the aid of his partner, but is stopped by Gotti, and
Gambino scores the three count, as the Dream Police retain their ACW
Tag Team Championship.
The ACW X-Division Championship is on the line in three-way action as
Champion Justin Dredd defends his title against Tony Mega and Bobby V.
Mega encourages Bobby to fight Dredd while he stands in the corner
and waits out the result, although Bobby doesn't particularly care
for that strategy. As Bobby moves to confront Mega, Tony simply
jumps off the ring apron, letting Bobby handle Dredd. Dredd and
Bobby lock up and Bobby gets in the initial offence with hammerlock,
that Dredd reverses, but Bobby reverses Dredd's reversal, putting
Dredd in an armbar.
As Dredd goes down to the mat, he takes the leg of Bobby, placing
Bobby in almost a Boston crab-like manoeuvre to free himself. Dredd
slings Bobby into the ropes, and Bobby comes back with a
shoulderblock, knocking down Dredd. Bobby backs himself into the
ropes again and rushes Dredd again, this time with a clothesline,
which Dredd ducks under. Bobby hits the opposite side ropes, and
again launches himself at Dredd, who leapfrogs over Bobby, and grabs
at Bobby's arm in almost an armbar, but before he can clamp on the
hold, Bobby reverses, bringing Dredd back down to the mat. Bobby
picks Dredd up, and slams him back down. Clearly, Bobby V has no
ring rust from his time off, as he takes the initial offence on
Dredd, stomping him in the chest. Dredd recovers quickly, kicking
Bobby in the face, but misses on his second try.
As Tony Mega continues to watch from outside, Bobby offers his hand
to Dredd, and they exit the ring from opposite directions, trapping
Tony Mega between them, and delivering right hand punches to Mega,
throwing him into the ring, and giving each other a high five before
Bobby stabs Dredd in the back, slamming Dredd's chin into the mat.
Mega offers a hand to Bobby from inside the ring, but Bobby steps on
it as he enters the ring to work over Mega. Bobby chops at Mega in
the corner, and smashing him in the face with a forearm before
whipping Mega into the opposite corner. Mega reverses, and Bobby
uses his agility to leap onto the second turnbuckle, rather than
crashing into the corner. Mega presses his attack, but Bobby mule
kicks Mega in the face as he gets near. Bobby turns himself around,
and drop kicks Mega. Bobby covers Mega, but Dredd interferes,
breaking up the pin and saving his title.
Bobby throws Dredd back outside so he can continue to work over Mega,
working over Mega's back with a series of forearms. Bobby follows up
with some knees to the midsection of Mega. Bobby stands Mega up in
the corner, and rushes him, but Mega ducks out of the ring at the
last second, and Bobby hits the turnbuckles hard. Mega re-enters the
ring and begins his own offence on Bobby, starting with a backdrop,
and then a backbreaker, before stomping on the back of Bobby.
Dredd re-enters the ring and delivers a forearm smash to the face of
Mega, who promptly throws Dredd out of the ring himself. Mega
continues to work over the back of Bobby with a series of forearms.
Mega whips Bobby into the corner turnbuckle. Mega sets up Bobby for
a suplex, but instead simply drops him.
Bobby recovers enough to slap Tony Mega in the face, as Dredd stands
on the ring apron, looking for a way to get involved in the match.
As Bobby nears Dredd, he scales the turnbuckles and tackles Bobby!
Mega now attacks Dredd, delivering forearms to the back of Dredd, and
then scooping him up for a back suplex, further weakening the back of
the X-Division Champion. Mega covers Dredd, but only gets a two
count. Tony Mega places a rear chinlock on Dredd, adding leverage by
placing his knee in the back of Dredd as he applies it, further
punishing Dredd's back.
Dredd fights his way to his feet, but Tony Mega drops the defending
champion to the mat again, and then kicks Bobby V from the ring
apron. Mega attempts to suplex Dress, but Dredd blocks him. Mega
attempts a second time, and when he is again blocked, he opts to
punch Dredd in the ribs instead. Bobby V re-enters the ring and
attacks Dredd just prior to being suplexed by Mega. Dredd pins Mega,
but is unable to finish him off.
Dredd puts Mega in a headlock and almost bulldogs him, but Mega
manages to escape just before impacting. Mega now covers Dredd for
the pin, but he, too, is unable to finish off the Dredd. Dredd whips
Mega into the ropes and Dredd levels him with a kick to the chops,
sending Tony Mega outside the ring.
Dredd has just a few seconds to recover as Bobby mounts the top
turnbuckle, but Dredd meets him with a hard right hand. Bobby shoves
Dredd, but as Dredd backs into the ropes, he upsets Bobby's balance,
and Bobby crotches himself on the top turnbuckle. Dredd takes
advantage of the situation, and pulls Bobby off the turnbuckle with a
top rope bulldog. Dredd quickly covers Bobby, hooking the leg, and
scoring the three count, retaining his ACW X-Division Championship.
The next match is the first match announced by Rev. Ben Johnson at
the top of the show, pitting J-Cash against fellow ACW veteran, Daryk
St. Holmes, Esq. J-Cash, as always, is the favourite of the fans in
attendance tonight.
The match begins quickly, as to be expected from these two veterans
who are very familiar with each other. Cash brings St. Holmes down
with a hammerlock, but St. Holmes reverses. Cash reverses and puts
St. Holmes in a standing side headlock. St. Holmes brings Cash down
to the mat, putting him in a toehold. Cash works his way to the
corner to break the hold, and St. Holmes releases the hold, but
stomps on the legs of Cash, trying to set him up for a figure-four
leglock. Cash rolls through, tying up St. Holmes in a small package,
but only scores a two count before St. Holmes kicks out.
St. Holmes continues to work on the legs of Cash; yanking him from
the rope Cash grabbed hold of. St. Holmes drops an elbow on the knee
of Cash. St. Holmes takes the ankle of Cash, and wrenches it, almost
a toehold. Cash, in pain, drops his shoulders to the mat, but
quickly picks them up as the referee counts to one. St. Holmes
seizes the opportunity and locks the figure four on J-Cash. Cash,
known to have had problems with his knees in the recent past, is in
excruciating pain from this submission manoeuvre. St. Holmes
continues to apply the pressure as a look of intense pain is etched
across the face of J-Cash. If Cash manages to hang on, this move
could certainly negatively affect the rest of Cash's performance in
the ring tonight, not to mention hindering the rest of his career.
Cash swings his hips in an effort to turn himself over, reversing the
hold. St. Holmes tries to resist, but Cash succeeds in reversing the
figure four, and now all the pressure is on Daryk St. Holmes! How
long can Cash's bad knees handle the pressure of maintaining the
hold?
J-Cash is unable to continue to apply the pressure for too long, and
St. Holmes escapes. Both men try to make their way to their feet.
Cash is very unsteady as he hangs onto the ropes to help him stand.
St. Holmes meets Cash in the corner with two European uppercuts,
before draping the weakened Cash's leg over the bottom rope, and
stomping on it, doing further damage to the legs of J-Cash. St.
Holmes, knowing Cash's legs are his weakness, singles them out for
the target of his assault.
St. Holmes continues to work over Cash, putting his foot into the
back of Cash's knee, and then taking his foot and almost placing it
in an ankle lock, but he leans over too much in applying the hold,
and Cash is able to grab St. Holmes' arm, forcing him to release the
hold. Cash rises to his feet, and tries to slam St. Holmes, but the
weight is more than his injured knees can stand. St. Holmes
collapses on top of J-Cash, and wisely takes advantage of the
situation to hook Cash's leg and attempt the pin. Holmes only gets a
two count as Cash manages to kick out. St. Holmes stands Cash up
and hits him again with a stiff European uppercut, but St. Holmes
again over-extends his reach, and Cash takes St. Holmes' arm, and
swings him around into a backslide. The leverage is all in Cash's
favour as he presses the surprised St. Holmes' shoulders to the mat
for the three count and the victory!
In this next match, Dysfunction battles Tejas from the Congregation.
The match begins like a typical Dysfunction match, with plenty of
weapons. Tejas comes to ringside with fellow Congregation members
Miss Anne and Thomas Walton III. Other Congregation members sit
ringside to watch the action close up.
The match starts in an outside the ring brawl as Tejas whips
Dysfunction into the wall. That could not be pleasant. As the match
returns to the ring, Dys covers Tejas, and hooks the leg for a two
count. Tejas drapes Dysfunction over the middle rope, and Miss Anne
chokes Dys while Tejas distracts the referee. Tejas picks up
Dysfunction and suplexes him to the mat, following up by picking up
Dysfunction only to drop him down with a clothesline. Tejas lazily
covers Dys with his boot, and Dysfunction kicks out.
Dysfunction is again draped over the ropes and choked, and this time
C. Martin McClure and Nick Colucci join Thomas Walton III in choking
Dysfunction. Dysfunction is picked up by Tejas, but Dys manages to
get in some offence, drop kicking Tejas. Both men lie prone on the
mat as the referee counts them down. Dysfunction and Tejas make it
back to their feet, and Dys lands some more offence with some high
dropkicks to Tejas, sending Tejas to the mat. Dys covers Tejas, but
only gets a two count.
Dysfunction scales the top turnbuckle, and attempts a 360 splash on
Tejas, but Tejas moves out of the way at the last second and Dys
crashes into the mat.
Both men slow to their feet, and attempt to pick the other up, vying
for offensive supremacy. Tejas manages to pick up Dys first, and
slams him to the mat, covering him for the pin and the win.
The rest of the Congregation come to ringside, joining in on
attacking Dysfunction.
Suddenly, through the curtain, Ben Johnson appears with his
own "secret weapon", the returning Sam Hayne and Mystique! Ben
Johnson's prepared this special surprise in anticipation of a
betrayal by his Congregation. The Congregation quickly scatter in
all directions as Hayne and Mystique make their way to the ring! Ben
Johnson created a monster in his Congregation, and now he battles
that monster with another monster—the former and final ACW Champion,
Hayne!
Hayne, not the kind of person you would want to meet in a dark alley
(or a light alley…or ANY alley!) makes his way to ringside as Ben
hands Mystique torches for Hayne. Hayne breathes fire to the crowd
at Baba Louie's. Thomas Walton III , still left standing in the
ring, is completely oblivious to the hulking form of Hayne behind
him, as the members of the Congregation shout at Walton to look
behind him. Walton turns around and gets the surprise of his life
from the demonic Hayne! Hayne easily lifts Walton and powerbombs him
to the canvas! Hayne prepares "last rites" for Thomas Walton III,
and if Hayne has it his way, Thomas Walton III will be the last of
his line, as Mystique hands Hayne two blazing torches, one in each
hand and he breathes fire once again to the crowd as the Congregation
quickly run from the ringside area as Rev. Ben Johnson has the final
word at All-Star Championship Wrestling's Maximum Detention 2007!
