We have a bunch of new things in stock, and the photos are naturally
in our photos section of what we have.
First up is the paperback book of Rulers of the Ring. A biography
book of some of wrestling's top guys from the late 90s, plus brief
snippets about (then) up and comers like Edge, Kurt Angle and more!
Light reading, but more in depth than you would get from your
standard WW biography book. Consider it a nighttime read when you
want something with more substance than comics, but not quite a
Stephen King novel, either.
Next up is ECW One Night Stand 2006. With this DVD, you get the DVD
version of ECW's first pay-per-view outing, Barely Legal as a bonus.
Held at the old ECW Arena, needless to say, the crowd is quite anti-
WW, especially since the first ONS the pervious year (so is it still
a ONE night stand if you came back for seconds?) In any case, some
of the signs are worth the price of this DVD alone, as the main event
is Cena/RVD, and the most prominent sign reads, "If Cena wins, we
riot". The usual ECW suspects are in the front row for this event.
For the fan of actual womens WRESTLING, not strippers calling
themselves "divas", Womens Extreme Wrestling presents a Night of
Insanity, which features Jackie Gayda, SHIMMER standout Lacey, ECW's
Jazz, among other familiar faces if you're a fan of independent
womens wrestling.
Going back a bit in time, we have Booker T:The Early Years. This DVD
features some of Booker's matches from the old Texas federations, the
USWA and Global Wrestling Federation. Even then, Booker was touted
as a big star in the making, so it would only be a matter of time. A
great way to catch up on the history of His Royal Highness King
Booker.
You want the truth? You can't handle the truth! Not The Stone Cold
Truth, at least. Austin narrates a more in-depth picture of life in
Edna, Texas growing up, far more detailed than 'Cause Stone Cold Said
So ever was, and this includes interviews with friends and family,
old teachers and coaches, plenty of classic footage, too, to include
footage of Austin's horrific neck injury at the hands of the late
Owen Hart at SummerSlam 1997, and Austin's comments on his
relationship with Owen both before and after the accident, to include
his thoughts on Owen's passing.
If you're a fan of extreme, hardcore action, get out a screwdriver,
heat it up on your stovetop and gouge your eyes out, so you can feel
what these teenage Darwin candidates in the making are feeling in
Best of Backyard Wrestling, vol. 3. Plenty of action, sometimes in a
makeshift ring. Some of the stuff done on this tape likely would
never have been thought of even in the vintage ECW years, although
some other "hardcore" promotions like CZW and FMW may have tried
them, but it's unlikely that they would go so far as putting
thumbtacks in their opponents ears. This is a VHS tape.
Going back a little further in time, we have the Classic Superstars
of Wrestling: Superstars of Yesteryear. Now THIS is the DVD for the
fans who go back to the 70's and 80's, with interviews/introductions
by Boogie-Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant, Nick Bockwinkel and some other
classic grapplers, and features these men, plus Curt Hennig, the
Freebirds, Jim Neidhart, "Ace" Cowboy Bob Orton, Eddie Gilbert, JYD,
and current RAW announcer, Jerry "The King" Lawler, to name just a
few. This is a superb disc to pick up to see what some of these guys
looked like in their primes, and maybe to catch a final look at some
stars whom are no longer with us.
Finally, we have This Is Ultimate Wrestling: Steve Austin: Master of
Mayhem. Early, classic Austin from the USWA and Dallas. Tony Atlas
helps introduce some of the classic matches of Austin before he
became "Stone Cold", and was just "Stunning". The best part is when
Austin teams with Percy "Paul Bearer" Pringle and goes up against
Chris Von Erich. A great companion piece to Steve Austin: Greatest
Hits.
