Independent wrestling

If you live in the greater Green Bay area, there is no reason why
you should not be heading to DePere on the 22nd to catch NWA
Wisconsin at Baba Louies.
Wrestling fans know the NWA is the oldest and most prestigious
recognized governing body of professional wrestling, with a history
dating back to the earliest part of the previous century, and when
it comes to excellence in wrestling, it doesn't get any better than
NWA Wisconsin.
For those who say they "don't like independent wrestling" or "only
watch WWE Or TNA", then you're missing out on quite a bit. First
off, where do you think these guys come from? You don't wake up one
day, decide you want to wrestle, call Vince McMahon or Jeff Jarrett
and all of the sudden you're on TV. It takes years of work on the
independent scene to achieve the level of excellence that will get
you noticed by the national promotions. Many of the wrestlers on
the independent scene today are at a level far greater than several
who ARE working for these national promotions, but are overlooked
because they lack the resources to be noticed by a national talent
scout, or don't have a unique enough look or physique to capture the
attention of promoters looking for a "larger than life" comic book
super hero.
NWA Wisconsin truly is the premier wrestling company in the state of
Wisconsin. Although there are other promotions in the state, how
many of them can boast that they have a promotional radius that
extends all the way to the Michigan border? Also, NWA Wisconsin is
truly a training ground for superstars. Smackdown wrestler Mr. Ken
Kennedy got his start working for NWA Wisconsin, under his real name
of Ken Anderson. Mark Henry's manager Khosrow Daivari was actually
an active wrestler in NWA Wisconsin (among several other promotions,
to include the prestigious Super 8 Tournament, which featured the
likes of fellow NWA: WI alumnus Austin Aries, as well as
TNA's "Fallen Angel" christopher Daniels), prior to managing, and
now he takes the knowledge and experience he earned in the ring and
applies it to his managerial charges. TNA's Austin Aries has worked
in the Super 8 Tournament as well as being the former head trainer
for Ring of Honor and works numerous overseas tours, but many don't
know that he, also, got his start in NWA Wisconsin. Ohio Valley and
WWE Developmental wrestler CM Punk may have been trained at the
Steel Domain here in Chicago, but they have also competed in NWA
Wisconsin, as well!
Also, several NWA: WI Superstars have appeared many times on various
WWE programming, to include "El Vato" Jose Guerrero, the long-lost
and little known cousin to the famous Guerrero wrestling family and
his former championship tag team partner, Dinn T Moore. Former NWA
Wisconsin Champion "The Underwear Model" Eric Priest is another
wrestler who has appeared on WWE television in the past. By not
going to these events, and not supporting them, you are not
supporting the industry as a whole. For mixed marital arts (UFC)
fans, NWA Wisconsin boasts former UFC veteran shootfighter Adrian
Serrano in the grand tradition of another former UFC veteran, former
NWA World Champion Dan Severn.
If you "only" like TNA or WWE, you must not be a very big fan of
those two promotions, because it's right here locally where those
guys get their start, so if you're not supporting your local
independents, you're not supporting any wrestling, because that's
where these guys all come from.
To top it all off, to put our money where our mouth is, we're going
to offer a 10% discount off of any item not on consignment at our
table at the April 22 Baba Louie's show to anyone who says they came
to the NWA Wisconsin show as a result of reading about them on
MySpace or our catalog group
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SFPCatalog). That's over and above
any other discount you might be entitled to (military discount, for
example).
That's April 22, DePere, Wisconsin at Baba Louie's. NWA Wisconsin.
