MSPW's annual anniversary show, Legacy took place last Saturday, and like
WrestleMania X years ago, the second Legacy show chose not to feature any
wrestler not currently active on the MSPW roster. Where last year's Legacy
featured TNA stars Traci Brooks, Shane Douglas and the late Chris Candido, this
year MSPW chose to showcase it's own "homegrown" stars and some young new
talent.
Hot new MSPW stars included Chris Chaos (with Ryan Cruise) who took on Michael
Shard in the opening bout. The action continued as MSPW newcomer Chris Black
battled the "Superstar", Bryce Benjamin. Although Black has impressed many
since his impressive debut less than a year ago, he was not able to make it
past Benjamin, who had to dig deep into his repertoire to defeat him.
After that, the championship matches began, as MSPW Heritage Champion DDS put
his strap on the line against "The Waterboy" Mike Horning. Horning has been
very impressive since branching out on his own, away from the All-Stars team
and has been chasing the Delicious one for many months, wanting his first taste
of MSPW gold. In this special match, it was for the best two of three falls,
with a one-minute break between falls. Despite DDS being the hometown
favorite, it was Horning who came up with the win, and was crowned the new MSPW
Heritage Champion.
Next up, "Enormous" Evan Alexander battles the equally enormous Xavier! Despite
a valiant effort on offense from Alexander, The X-Man ended up being too much
for Alexander, and ended up with the deuce in this match!
Then the title matches began again as "The Human Massacre" Venom took on Mexican
Luchadore Egotistico Fantastico. The match, with the MSPW Championship at
stake, found these two competitors battling all over the arena. However, in
the end, Venom managed to hold on to his belt. Ring announcer Scott Cooley
nearly lost his life before the battle even began, when after Venom bullyed
him, retaliated on the mic, calling out Venom for what he was, a big bully, and
if it weren't for Venom's overwhelming desire to take out the masked Luchadore,
he might have taken out Cooley, too. Fortunately, Cooley managed to run faster
than Venom, and "Ego" managed to take advantage of the distraction.
Finally, the final match of the evening took place as MSPW had its second TLC
match as MSPW Tag Team Champions, The Supremecy Squad, consisting of
"Metalhead" Steve Stone and Brandon Blaze battled "Who's The Boss" Tony
Scarpone and Tony Rican in a Tables, Ladders, Chairs match. In a match
reminiscient of last year's Legacy between The All-Stars and XXXplicit Content,
this increcibly brutal match took both teams to the limit, and the Supremecy
Squad's mnanager, Ami Zane, got involved on numerous occasions also. In the
end, not even Ami Zane could stop Tony Scarpone from climbing the ladder to
claim the MSPW Tag Team Championship and the victory. After the match, an
obviously distraught Blaze attacked manager Ami Zane, and then Stone himself,
qutting the team!
Once again, an excellent show that proves that good independent wrestling in
Illinois is alive and well!
On the subject of TLC, we have acquired a brand new and factory sealed version
of the WWF's TLC VHS, which has numerous interviews with the Dudley Boyz, the
Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian as well as numerous matches of theirs, to
include the first ladder match between the Hardyz and Edge and Christian. Only
$20 + S/H. $2 Media Mail, $4 Priority Mail.
Now, the summer is a very busy time for NWA Wisconsin as they begin their
