Greetings to all! We hope that everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving! It is
turning out to be a busy winter time for us, so we're taking this chance to
update this list on what is going on! Onward...
Another Mid-American show has gone, and with several issues unresolved.
Promoter Carmine DeSpirito introduced a masked man, The Punisher, to try to take
out NWA
Iowa State Champion Ryan Boz in the hopes of getting a title shot for his man
"Kamikaze" Ken Anderson, who lost his NWA Midwest Heavyweight title to Chris
Candido a month ago.
Although Punisher lost, Carmine was successful in getting the attention of NWA
Midwest promoter Ed Chuman to gain Ken Anderson a title shot against Boz on
December 17.
MAW Jr. Heavyweight Champion Brandon Thomaselli successfully defended his title
against Marco Stylz in a no contest. While that was fine with Thomaselli,
Stylz was less than thrilled and demanded a ladder match with Thomaselli. This
MAW first has also been signed for the 17th.
"The Real Shooter" Adrain Serrano got his respect from "Juggalo" Steve Jordan &
manager Kevin Ultra in his respect match, but predictably, neither man was
willing to live up to the "kiss my foot" stipulation willingly. Fortunately
(or maybe unfortunately for them), Serrano is a pretty convincing sort of guy,
and managed to "talk" them into fulfilling the stipulation. Needless to say,
Kevin Ultra will be sore for quite some time. Although Serrano
got what he wanted, this looks like it is far from over yet.
The Void Effect put their MAW World Tag Team Championship straps on the line
against Dysfunction and the returning Jimmy Goomba. An excellent match that
saw the Voids retain the titles, but they seriously injured the already bad
neck of Goomba. It's unclear if he will be back in action anytime soon.
MAW legend "Mauler" Jerry Maywald came out of retirement to team with Dinn T.
Moore (who recently appeared on WWE television) to take on the team of "Too
Phat" Jason Dukes & his trainer Tommy Courageous in a street fight that saw
what we think is the beginning of a tradition we would rather not see, as once
again, our table was demolished during the battle as Courageous found out
pretty quick that The Mauler may have some ring rust on him, but that doesn't
mean much in a street fight. Mauler and Moore gave these two all they could
handle and more!
In the Main Event, the returning Classic Colt Cabana upset MAW World Champion
Skullkrusher for the title, although he won the belt in a tainted victory,
using the ropes to pin Skullkrusher. A furious Skullkrusher demanded a rematch
with Cabana, and put up his career against the title. On December 17, if
Skullkrusher fails to regain the title from Cabana, he has agreed to retire.
Make sure to be there Dec 17 at The Sports Connection for NWA Mid-American
Wrestling. The event has already been placed on our Yahoo Group calendar.
Come January, we will be filming MAW events, so make sure you come see us!
We're hoping to run some special discounts with the promoter, so keep tuned to
group messages for more information!
