Hello everyone. Sorry it has been so long since we last updated you all on
Sean's progress. Life is very hectic, so it's hard to find the time. Since our
last post, Sean has made significant progress. Sean used the platform walker to
walk for a short time and then insisted they let him try with a regular walker.
His hands are still weak, so we had to hold his hands on the walker, but he did
very well walking. He was still needing assistance with his balance, but his
core was still showing signs of strengthening. About a week ago, Sean asked the
therapists to try to let him walk without a walker. With a therapist on each
side of him to help with balance, he gave it a shot. He did a great job. His
legs continue to get stronger, as he is able to go from sitting to standing with
no assistance. His hands, arms, back and shoulders are getting stronger as
well. Sean has a central cord injury, which means the upper limbs are affected
more than the lower. The doctors said Sean's hands and arms would be the last
to show any improvement, and we are finally starting to see something. Sean is
now able to do push ups while on all fours. We appreciate everyone's prayers,
but they are still needed. Sean has come a long way, but the battle isn't over,
he still has a long way to go.
On another note, there will be a benefit to help with Sean's medical bills on
April 4th. Brewster's Bar in Chalmette will host a dart tournament, sign up
will start at 8pm, the tournament will start at 9pm. Entry is $10 per person.
There will also be a raffle. The kitchen will be open until 11 and of course
the bar will be open all night. Come out and have a good time for a good
friend.
Again, thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers, please keep them
coming.
Love
Karen and Sean
