Hi, All.
We are honored to have a very special new skater. Yang Yang (S) from
China has come to Los Angeles to go to college. Tonite she came to the
rink to visit, and will probably start skating with us on Saturday.
If you watched the Olympics, you may remember that there are two skaters
from China named Yang Yang. The are called (A) and (S) just to keep
their names separate. They are not related, and the letters simply
refer to their month of birth. Yang Yang (S) is the one here. She
prefers to be called Yang, pronounced "Yong". She has won 5 Olympic
Short Track Medals, and placed in the top 5 Overall in 3 World
Championships in a row, the last being in 2002.
She wants to just skate with us, but said she may compete next season.
She is in a strange land and strange situation here, so make sure to
smile and tell her Hi! Her English is somewhat rusty, and speaking of
Rusty, he has already been on her to speak English only :-) She
should adjust very quickly, and will be a wonderful addition to our
group of talented skaters!
You can see the most recent bio on Yang at the following link:

Also you can see her in action here (#114), although she looks somewhat
different in person:
