Dear Members:

The Annual Southern California Speed Skating Association (SCSSA) Awards Banquet/Luncheon/Party was held last Sunday at Fudruckers in Lakewood.  A fun time was had by all!  There were lots of neat raffle prizes, and good food!

In case you have not heard, the SCSSA has a new President:  Ron Rusk.  Since none of the positions were contested, ballots were not sent out.   The other Officers of the SCSSA are Randy Sermeno, 1st Vice President, and Cary Todd, 2nd Vice President. 

Awards were presented for Class Champion and Most Improved.  The Class Champion awards were based upon performance at the local SCSSA Competitions during the past season, with points earned in in each skaters' individual National Age Division.  Skaters who attended more local meets than others naturally received more total points.  The Class Champions and Most Improved awards are listed below.

Later in the afternoon, a group of us went to Bolsa Chica State Beach where we often have our Friday Beach Parties during the summer.  It was a nice warm day at the beach, and we were presented with some very unusual visitors!  Take a look:  http://www.socalspeedskating.org/images/temp/Dolphins2967.jpg

Lastly, a side note:  Lezleigh Jaworski has become the new President for the Ice Club DeMorra.  Good luck to Lezleigh, Ron, and the other officers for the upcoming season!
