Hi, All.

Please Read Carefully!
If you are a youngster, please have your parent(s) read this!
*If you are a novice or first year skater, or still learning, this does not apply to you.

As most of you know, the SCSSA usually rents an extra evening of ice time on Tuesdays from about September through February.  This extra ice time is absolutely essential to helping our skaters reach their goals by the time the Nationals and Trials come around at the end of February.  This extra ice is one of the many reasons that we have been so successful!

However, with the financial crises this year, and all of the hard work that most of you have put in to raise money to Save the Coach, and to help pay for our regular ice, and the price increase last month for ice time, the SCSSA does not have the money to help back the cost of the Tuesday session.  What the Board has decided is to charge one month in advance to cover the cost of the ice.  Based on getting about 20 skaters committed to this Tuesday ice, the price would have to be $25.00 per session, or $100.00 per month if paying monthly, per skater.  Several more skaters than the target of 20 would make the price go down.  Drop-ins would pay a bit more per session.

However, the Glacial Gardens Management needs a commitment now for their Fall scheduling, and as of now, we only have 16 committed skaters.  At that rate, we would need to charge those 16 $30.00 per session to pay for the ice.  They would have a great session with only 16 skaters on the ice, but they probably could not pay for the entire season, so we would loose the Tuesdays.

Bottom line is this:  If any of you want to skate one more night per week, and greatly improve your skating by the time the Nationals/Trials in late February, please sign up immediately.  And, obviously, if a lot more skaters commit to Tuesdays, then the price might drop!

Hopefully in the future, like next year, the financial situation might get a lot better,  But for now, this is it, this is what we have to work with if we want to have our skaters {YOU} continue to improve more dramatically than in any other part of the USA.

If more of you can commit to the Tuesday sessions, please contact either Sylvia or Jean at the sign-in table.  And we need to know now, or we will have to let the rink schedule {ugh} hockey into that time slot

Sincerely,

Jerry Search

*If you are a novice or first year skater, or still learning, this does email not apply to you.  The Tuesday sessions are aimed at the faster skaters, of which we have many.  In the past, we have not dis-allowed novices skating, we have just not encouraged it, and we do not have a novice coach on Tuesdays. But if you want to skate, and to help out this situation, you are more than welcome to do so.  Just remember that it is an advanced session.

PS:  Note that Culver City is not an option, due to the high speed of these workouts during the season, and due to the heavy traffic that lies between most of you and that rink on Tuesday evenings.
