This is to remind our skaters to bring back their "announcer's info
sheets"
on Sat. Also, for those skaters who have not filled one out yet to
be sure
to pick up the sheet when they check in and quickly fill it out so
that our
announcer can study it a bit before the meet begins. (particularly,
those
skaters from out of town).
We will be having a medal ceremony wood block podium to stand on this
year.
(Made by master craftsman, Mr. Kim... please thank him!) Skaters
will be
honored during this ceremony and formal photographs will be taken by
our
wonderful resident photographer, Jerry Search. (the best sports
photographer
I have ever seen). He graciously accepted this assignment and will
post the
pictures on the club website. We are so fortunate. Skaters, please
stay on
the podium until the photographs are completed.... nice photo "op" for
parents too. Good sportsmanship (i.e.: handshaking, congratulatory
comments
etc.) to fellow competitors is encouraged and appreciated. It will
bring
honor and dignity to our sport. This is good practice for the
Olympics!
The skaters might be interested to know that State Games medals will
be
awarded for all "podium" winners; ribbons for other placements; and
trophies
will be awarded to all 1st place California State Champions in each
division.
Thanks!... and good luck!
Annette
