News Flash from Germany:
Four Southern California Speed Skaters raced last weekend at the ISU World Cup in Dresden, Germany. We are proud of all of our competitors.
With the new World Cup format every skater races two events. One distance is raced twice. This weekend, there were two 500 meter races.
Here are some of the weekend highlights:
Ladies:
Maria Garcia placed 28th in the 500 meter and 30th in the 1500 meter.
The US Womens Relat Team won gold with Smith, Reutter, Derrick and Gehring.
Men:
JR Celski won the 1500 meter and placed 2nd in the 1000 meter! Way to go JR.
Jeff Simon raced to the number 16 spot in the first 500 meter and was 40th in the second 500 meter.
Jordan Malone had a crash, placed 42nd in his first 500 meter and did not skate his second race. We wish him a speedy recovery.
The US Men's relay team raced to a 5th place finish.
