Its June and our off season training is off to a great start at both Lakewood and Valencia. Here are a few key events for June:
- Advanced skater ice begins Tuesday night, June 3 at Lakewood. Everyone is invited to skate. There may not be a novice coach on the ice.
- Coach Tracy Northrop's last night of coaching for the Santa Clarita Speed Skating Club is this Thursday, June 5. Everyone is invited to skate the Thursday night session at Valencia and wish Tracy well in her new endeavors. Tracy has completed her PhD in Physics at Cal Tech and has accepted a Post-Doc research position in Innsbruck, Austria. Congratulations and good luck to Dr. Tracy.
- SCSSA Banquet is being held on Saturday, June 7 at Me-n-Ed's Pizza in Lakewood. The Banquet will run from 1 - 3:30 PM. Skaters can then participate in Coach Boomstra's off ice practice at 4:45 and the De Morra Club ice session at 6:15. Everyone is invited to eat pizza, party and skate.
- SCSSA Board Meeting. Saturday June 14 at Glacial Gardens in Lakewood, 4 PM start time. Agenda items include; approval to submit a new grant proposal to the Foundation, discussion of proposed race schedule, discussion of new rules from USS, and a variety of administrative items. Everyone is welcome. Board Members, please make a special effort to attend. If anyone has agenda items to suggest, please email them to me at sperles@....
