(Including Baseball)

As a quick summary and extension:
-About 500 colleges are currently members of the National Junior
College Athletic Association (NJCAA). http://www.njcaa.org/
-Since 2003, about 40 colleges have joined the NJCAA.
-Public colleges (especially in the Midwest) are adding sports
programs to offer students (and increase enrollment) a "complete"
college experience.
-Some states have laws forbidding community colleges from using state
money to fund athletics - consequently, funding a sports program
(including scholarships in some cases) at a community college can
require ingenuity.
-New NCAA Legislation, passed in May and due to take effect August
1st, may drive more athletes to two-year colleges instead of prep
schools. Note: Players like Placido Polanco and Albert Pujols played
on NCJAA teams. Approximately 100 NCJAA players were drafted in June.

I wonder what, if any, long term effects this trend will have on
scouting.
Thanks.
