Hello to everyone involved with the SABR Ballparks committee!
Just wanted to send a quick hello to introduce myself and my son Antonio Del
Sesto.
I was a SABR memeber back when I lived up in Ohio. We moved down here in the
Atlanta
area in early 1995 right at the time that Antonio was born. I think at the time
I'd attended
one or two local chapter meetings but I soon found work and starting a new
family in
new surroundings was taking much of my time.
I ended up letting my SABR memebership expire a few years back though my love
for the game has never diminished. Antonio is now 13, involved in sports and
band at
school and he loves his Atlanta Braves. I still haven't grown to love them
though. Just
won't forgive them for beating my Tribe back in 95! :)
Anyway, I'd always enjoyed reading about the game in the old old days day
dreaming about being able to go to a ball game at old League Park in Cleveland
or Shibe
or one of those great old ball parks. I've especially been interested in the old
parks and
have recently by trying to learn more about the parks you don't hear quite as
much
about from the early 1900's like Bennett Park in Detroit, Hilltop in New York
and the
Huntington Avenue Grounds in Boston along with the others during the infancy of
the
1900's. So that started to fuel the urge to get back involved in SABR
and start rubbing some shoulders with other baseball diehards and in the process
start introducing Antonio to more of the history of the old game, when it was a
game.
So I got us signed back up with a Family memebership to bring Antonio back into
the fold
with me.
Looking forward to our time back in SABR and hope that we can eventually get
involved
actively in SABR!
