The Ballparks Committee and the Bioproject Committee have embarked on
a wonderful new joint venture. As of today, the Biography Project is
soliciting "biographies" of ballparks. These stories, 1000 or more
words, would be the cradle to grave history of a ballpark: the story
of its creation, what its interesting characteristics were, the
surrounding neighborhood and culture, all the interesting things that
happened there (not limited to baseball), and how and why the park no
longer exists. Like all of our work, the story would go through at
least one editor, and ultimately be posted on the Biography Project's
web site along with the hundreds of traditional biographies already there.
How these bios will be organized on the site is still being worked out.
If you are interested, please contact me to sign up for a ballpark or
three, and to get more information on guidelines and
requirements. Please join us in telling the stories of the all these
wonderful parks, allowing them to live on forever.
