Does anyone know when the stands and bleachers at
Manhattan Field, just south of the Polo Grounds, were
demolished? I know they were used for various
purposes, including college football, past 1900.
Then, these events were held in the Polo Grounds, or
at least in looking through Proquest, there were no
longer any mention of events held at Manhattan Field.
During the 1903 season, there was a storm which caused
a lot of damage in New York. Included in the areas
listed, fans at the Polo Grounds, for a Giants' game,
took cover under the roof. At adjacent Manhattan
Fields, part of a fence along the bleachers was blown
down. That is the last mention I could find of this
Manhattan Fields location. There were other Manhattan
Fields, but they were located elsewhere.

So, the bleachers, at least, were still standing
during the 1903 season.
