From my work proofing the 1911, 1921 and 1922 NL events (created. for
the most part, from newspaper accounts) against the official dailies,
I found that it was very common for newspapers not to credit
sacrifices, both in their play-by-play accounts and box scores, when
there were errors and the batter wasn't retired.
