I have done a little more checking in the official records for the
events of 9-2-1911 (G1). The record shows 1 error for St. Louis in that, as do we. We agree that
the error was committed by the shortstop, Hauser. We show it as a dropped throw
on a caught stealing that made the runner safe. We show no outfield errors St. Louis that day and
neither does the official record. Since RBI were not an official category and
are therefore not in the official record, then we cannot use that as a check.
The pitcher records did not indicate home runs allowed that year either. The
final thing I checked was the daily team record for the Pirates and it shows no
homers hit by Pittsburgh
that day.
So, I have not resolved this situation and
there is clearly more to be done.
