I see being barefoot or wearing anything other than duct tape as letting them
win, therefore while the easy thing to do would be to just wear flip flops I'm
not going to do that.
To me this is worth making a deal over and fighting for because I was doing
nothing wrong.

Dining centers here at UNI require shoes. OK, so I fashioned a pair of shoes out of duct tape that completely covers the bottom of my foot and most of the top...

You could try the stealth sandal. Get an adjustable strap maybe 3 or 4 feet long and wrap it around your foot like a sandal with no sole. I saw a write up...
