Thanks Brian! I put it on my Amazon wish list and in the mean time picked up "Trigger Point Self-Care Manual" by Donna Finando. After reading through the basics and description, and trying the technique on the link you gave me, I believe I did in fact pull a ligament, but that the trigger points have cramped up in reaction to it, making it feel worse than it really is. Thanks so much for the tip, I will put the information to good use! I've heard about trigger points for years and I know I have them, I just haven't hit the point until now to be ready to do something about. My mom will be here in a few days too, and she has had a stiff neck for years, I'll show her the book and see if she will try it. Sad thing is, she lives in Asia and won't take the time to take a Tuk-tuk across town for acupuncture treatments <sigh>, parents, what can you do with them :-)
Cheers,
Wendy

On effective treatment is to take a rolling pin and use it to massage the calf muscles. The knots will be particularly painful when massaged, and may take a little while to release. Don't be too aggressive when massaging 6-10 firm strokes over the knots every couple of hours is good. > > Hope this helps. > > Thanks > > Barefoot Brian > Hyde Park. >
