How do I love barefoot running, lemme count the ways..... :)
Although I couldn't make it after all to London's BUPA Hyde Park 10K to join BF Rick and Yanni in July, I managed to find a run here in Malaysia earlier this month, the Adidas King of the Road. My first barefoot 10K was a flat and fast course, but I came in slow, at slightly more than an hour (I don't wear a watch, neither was there a timer/clock at the finish), but I wasn't interested in doing it quick, just wanted to see if I could finish a 10K san shoes. Apparently I can!

I did well on the first 6-7 km, but my soles became much more sensitive after that, which was when I slowed down to run even more gently. Not many comments from other runners (there's always a couple around in most road races here), and there was this one other naked foot runner - who ran so gracefully and so FAST i was completely humbled by my ouchy steps, and thought what a long way i have to go!
The good news is I suffered no aches, no pains after that, felt fantastic, and even more barefoot inspired.
Up next, I've signed up for a 14K steep, extremely muddy trail run in November (its going to be the wet season, so...), and I haven't decided if I'm going to be barefoot. I've started walking trails barefoot, but in much drier conditions, which I love. I'm curious: what experiences does this group have of running steep slushy muddy trails barefoot? I gathered from previous writings that the perfect foot landing may have one run on any surface, but, while i'm perfecting that I'll probably carry my light trail shoes along (NB 790) - which haven't seen any use for a year, so not looking forward to putting them on! happy trails,
