Hi,
I've been running on a very smooth and clean concrete surface in the
mornings before work. This concrete is so smooth, in fact, that if
there are puddles, cyclists will commonly fall while making turns,
even at slow speeds.
It rained last night and there were still some pretty big puddles. I
noticed that if I ran through the puddles, running became much more
difficult. I would slip quite a bit and have to slow down
considerably to avoid possibly falling. I would almost equate this to
running on ice. Once I noticed this, I started to target the puddles
because it felt like it was teaching me something. If I had a correct
foot-plant, then I shouldn't be slipping, right?
Has anyone else ever experienced this? Should we, with perfect
form, be able to run over extremely slick surfaces without any
slipping whatsoever?
