Tony Post at VibramUSA sent me a pair a few years ago to "test drive" when they first came out. I didn't run in them, but did a lot of walking in them, especially on lava fields in Hawaii. (I am an exclusively barefoot runner and have been since April 2004.)
Since I have ran barefoot the past several years, I would not know about feet losing their "barefoot-readiness". Makes sense to me however.
Personally, I know how stupid I used to run in shoes, and have always been fairly certain that I would revert to my stupid ways of running if I was ever to try to subsidize my running in shoes again.
