Ken Bob's Original Running Barefoot Forum

"Shoes! We don't need no stinkin' shoes!"

Ken Bob's Nor'easter Plus Tour 2013

Living is risky! READ the Disclaimer before beginning your barefoot adventure!

This is where most of what the modern world understands about barefoot running was originally tested and discussed.

We are not "Purists" (unless you define "purist" as someone who doesn't call footwear, "barefoot"). We have learned that being barefoot teaches us to run more gently, efficiently, and gracefully, bare soles are our first line of defense against common running injuries. Basically, if running or walking is painful on our bare soles, we're doing something that is eventually going to damage other parts of our bodies!

There are good reasons for footwear (cold, etc.). But many people use footwear so they won't feel an immediate need to change the injurious way they run. To discuss minimalist footwear visit alternative/minimalist footwear group.

However, if you are interested in LEARNING and sharing stories about barefoot running OR WALKING, WELCOME! Feel Free to read, join, and post your adventures, questions, answers, etc., about BAREfooting here.

The Running Barefoot website might re-post/condense/expand/paraphrase and/or otherwise "borrow" some of the more interesting/relevant/helpful information from this forum.

Re: New member intro
I suggest starting on challenging terrain, but in a "safe" place. To begin barefoot running the important thing is to LEARN to run more gently. This will help

Re: Joint Pain and Running on the Rough Stuff
There is a thing called "deceptively comfortable", which is the reason people can run in a way, while wearing shoes, that would injure them in the long run,
