Today we decided to run some hills and the full Laurelhurst loop. It
is amazing how much stronger I have been getting in such a short
period of time. I think the same is true of everyone else. We are
going to start doing some intervals in order to push us too. We
definitely need more consistancy though for the 6:30 group which I am
hoping will happen once school has started. Running is actually
becoming fun! :)

There has been a lot of interest from the group to begin training for
the Seattle Half Marathon. We actually ran some hills this morning!
Here is a link to a great training site:
http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/novice.htm and if you go to our
links, I have included one for the Seattle Marathon site.

Hi Everyone!

The North Seattle Herald is doing a story on us tomorrow at 7 am or
so. If you can make it, please come as I really believe it will be
great for the club membership. Sorry for the late notice. I just
found out this evening as I was returning from the San Juans.

Thanks!

There is now going to be a group that starts running at 6:30am, and
another that starts at 7am. The 6:30am group will run from 6:30 -
7:10am, and then do exercises for the last 20 minutes (abs, lunges
etc.). The 7am group will run for the first 10 minutes, do exercises
for the next 20, and then run for another 30 minutes. We will all be
doing the exercises together.

Today was great and we are starting to some exercises that are making
me sore! It's great to feel my muscles working :).

I reread the message I posted and realized it was a little confusing.
The 6:30 group would run until 7am and then the 7 am group would join
them for 2 laps and then the entire group would do exercises together
and then the 7am group would run.

I hope that makes better sense!

Gorgeous day and great turn out thanks to Megan, Nicole, Jeannie and
Janie. We are learning some great new exercises as well. I wanted to
propose to all of those interested in 6:30 to meet at the community
center then, and then after two warm up laps, the 7:00 group and the
6:30 group could do exercises together and the the 7:00 group could do
their run. Please let me know your thoughts as we'd love for this
group to be able to include all of those interested!

:)

Uh-oh, I won't be running with my dog Lucy or anyone else. Much to my
dismay, I have a 7:15 AM work meeting. Well, enjoy without me. Catch
you next week.

Hi,
I'm planning to start my runs at 6:30AM. I did that today and did my
last lap with Kristy and Jeanne. I'll be happy to run up to the park
at 6:30 on Friday to see if anyone else is there at that time of the
morning. I'll be with my dog, Lucy (B&W border collie). I often run
outside the park too because I get crazy running in too many circles.

Great run this morning! It's amazing how much stronger I have gotten
over such a short period of time. I can't wait until I'm as fast as
Heather, Audrey or Kathy! Today Jeannie, Audrey and her best friend
from Boston, and Kathy came. We ran and then Audrey showed us a great
new way to do situps and lunges. I also put up more posters and
hopefully we will keep growing!

I really want to join your group. 7:00am is a little late, 6:30am
would work so much better. I will join you this Friday, Aug.5, but I
was wondering if someone could contact me b/c I have some questions.
How can I get my contact information to the facilitator without
posting it publicly. If I bring a speedometer can someone help me set
it up. Thanks so much.

It was great to see Julie and Heather out today. I also am expecting
to see more faces on Wednesday. The weather held out (the cool air
actually felt good!) and although my knee is not in the best of shape,
I ran the whole time. I think the push ups and crunches are good
too!
See you Wednesday!

Hi Kristy,
Please let me know if the group changes the running times to either 6 am, 6 pm
or 6:30 pm. Unfortunately, I can't make any that are at the current time of 7
am.
This sounds like great fun, though. I wish you all great success.
Please keep me posted.

Just heard about your running group, and plan to be there next week,
hopefully Monday.

At this point, 7am (1st choice) or 6.30 (2nd choice) would work best.

I'll assume that on Monday the run will be at 7? If not, please email
me right away. Thanks, and great job on taking the initiative.

Hi!

Thanks for your post.  I am definitely open to moving the time earlier, and would love to have you join.  The club is being posted in the next Laurelhurst newletter, so, I'd like to wait to move the time for a few weeks.  I will get back to you once we develop a good nucleus.

Thanks,

:) Kristy

Hi,
I just learned about this group from a friend.  Would love to join
you, but 7 am is too late.  6:30 works well.  Another Laurelhurst mom
and I already run Wednesdays and Fridays and we can lead a 4 1/2 mile
loop, if there is interest.  Let me know if run times change and I
will be happy to join!

Today was GREAT!!! It was such a wonderful feeling to see Julie,
Heather and Audrey up on the field. We all RAN around the park (my
first time running the whole time) and then did push ups sit ups and
lunges. I can't wait for more people to join us. My knee is still
bothering me a bit, but the shoes I got from Super Jock n'Jill seemed
to help a lot. As promised, here is the link to the run in Magnuson
park on August 13th: http://www.irongirl.com/

Well, I felt a bit like Charlie Brown waiting for the great pumpkin
this morning. Unfortunately no one came today, but I did meet a
wonderful woman named Kathy (see post below) who said she would come
out periodically....and even more so if we moved the time to 6:30.
Since I posted the club in a few newsletters, I'd like to wait until
after they come out to move the time...so please continue to vote! The
good thing about starting this club is that it gets me up to the park
running! Today I went 8 minutes, walked 2, and then ran 5 minutes and
walked 2 for a total of 31 minutes. I am gradually getting stronger!
I too would love to run the Seattle Half Marathon in November...and
maybe a few smaller races along the way.

I hope to see a few faces on Friday!

Hi, Kristy,
I just met you up in the park. Nice idea. I'll try to make at lease
one run next week. As I mentioned, 7AM might be a little late for me
to start a run.

I am training for the Seattle Half-Marathon in November. Hopefully,
others will as well. There are some nice running routes in Laurelhurst
outside the park as well

Anyway, hoping to meet some other middle-aged runners,
Kathy Bell

Just returned after our first group run. A big thank you to those who
came. I realize that it will be difficult forming a consistent
accountable group. I guess that it's a work in progress. I ran for 5
minutes and walked for 2 then repeated this until I had run for 30
minutes. I still have to work my way up to 38 minutes! I also had
some great stretches which I believe will help with how I will feel
tomorrow! I'm also wondering what the best time for some of these
group runs will be...any feedback is great!
