I have had problems with scar tissue in both shins, because of sports injuries and cracking my shins on bed corners in the dark. In Tallahassee I caught my right sin on the corner of an aluminum bleacher. It gashed my shin open, and of course threw a bruise underneath the skin break. We put neosporin and and bandage on the wound, and it seemed to heal up with a little more discoloration to my shin. Apparently sometime I bumped that shin again in the dark. And this bruise proceeded to get worse and worse. You can ask Kane or Holla Pain Yo who was in town on Sunday and Monday for the Texas bout.
I had a Dr's appointment scheduled for Tuesday, in advance for a general health purposes. Obviously, this issue of my spreading bruise was addressed, and I was given a couple of antibiotics to combat the infection. Yesterday I had a follow up, and some minor improvement could be noted. Today I think there is even a more positive improvement. Still, I have to keep this leg elevated a lot of the day, and that keeps me from driving 3 or 3 1/2 hours tomorrow and Sunday to see your bout. So, while you don't snap your fingers and get well, I am making very good progress towards getting rid of this infection.

Phil, what the hell did you do to yourself? I'm normally not all about people's medical business but this infection is jacking with one of my derby idols (that would be you, my friend). So what do we need to do to get you healed? You are drinking a lot of water right? Staying on schedule with your antibiotics? Oh and do they have you on an antibiotic cream as well? Wouldn't hurt.
Maybe you can yell, "Come on ref," for me at the most appropriate time. I am feeling better, at least my infected area doesn't seem nearly as inflamed as it was. It looks horrible, but it seems like the antibiotics are starting to take hold.

Please forgive my abbreviated version of this Weekend in Derby. I am not
supposed to type for an extended period of time. No doubt I may have lefts some
bouts out, and if you have information on bouts, please do not hesitate to post
it.

Hey everyone!!
If anyone can help these girls out ! Please, please , please do so !
If you just spread the word and have any team interested contact me, that would
be great. It's against our B team on August 29th at the Von Braun Center. We do
travel expenses and trades, but we usually work that out with leagues
individually since the travel distance and their schedules vary. Thanks!

What we really need is a tape recorder in that chair with a cowbell with some of
my favorite sayings like:
She cut the track!
That was an initial pass. Don't count that as points!
You can't be lead jammer once you have gone to the penalty box!
Keep your elbows down ladies!
Somebody put the score up on the board!
Beyoutiful!
Ouch, that hurt!
Oh, Come On Ref!
Maybe they still have my face on a stick from last year when they traveled to
Boston. I'll miss you all!

Don't know if this is the place for this. Forgive me if it isn't. Does anyone
use those velcro/elastic things to hold up your t-shirt sleeves? Anyone know
what they are called in real life? Would anyone be interested in them if they
came in like cool designs on them (skulls, stars, guns)?
Also anyone wish they could find waxed laces that weren't black? I know I do....
Thanks for that clarification Phil!

June that was interrupted by the Fire Marshall, it will be worth seeing as
potentially some of the most exciting derby you will ever see.

Crasher, it was great seeing you fit right into the Hustlers blocking scheme.
You heard my compliment after the game. But when you and Bullet Tooth Tracy
form a front wall that is a foridiable wall. And with Eddie helping on stats,
you had enough key blocks to make the writeup.
So thanks for the kind words, and congrats on having a solid bout. I look
forward to seeing you skate again in the championship bout.

The surging Hula Honeys challenge the Jet City league champion Pink Pistols. The
JCRG travel team, Jet City Bombers, bouted Rat City Rollergirls' Rain of Terror
the previous weekend. Both of this evening's teams had skaters in that bout and
both teams have skaters sitting out this one with injuries.
The winner of this bout will meet the Camaro Harem July 11, 2009 in the League
Championship Bout which sounds like a really fun evening.
Actually Tom, I did notice you. You are a key part of the
composition of this picture. While two glamorous skaters would normally
a stand on their own as part of the composition, classical picture
composition has a third component or subject. In this case you lead in
to the glamorous part of the picture as the eye moves left to right.
Pretty much one brief glance at you, and the viewer goes right to the
salient portion of the picture.

Hey Tom, Of
course you were noticed! You are carrying the HotRod Honeys battle
flag. I'm not kidding, that is an important job. Battle flags are
important symbols that provide a rallying standard for the fans and the
skaters. They add panache and color to the sport. You and Spitfire, as
the HotRod Honeys flag bearers, are a very important element that adds
much to the enjoyment of the fans.
And how about that crazy Ossie Zion running around chasing the fans
with his toy chainsaws and his idea of those "bubble quotes" made for
some great material for our photographers. Don't ever think you are not
important enough to be noticed. You are not only noticed but you are
also appreciated.....Honey Man
Now I know that the Bosses beat the Brawlers in the first bout in June. But
what I didn't know is exactly how that was counted. So, it is totally up to
Houston Roller Derby and their board and voting skaters...I guess. But

Thanks to Eddie for helping me out with blocking stats. They were a lot more
complete than usual, and I think helped get some very deserving blockers into
the writeups.
It was great to see my friends Holla Pain Yo and Kane up this weekend from
Houston.
I am laid up for a couple of days with my leg injury. This may affect my
ability to write this weekend in derby. I'll at least get up a list of bouts if
not complete normal writeups. I amd under doctors orders and I probably can't
spend much time writing until I get over this leg infection. In fact, it may
affect my ability to travel to Dallas, but I should know by Thursday.
