The Dragon Divas utilized a dominant second period, and held off a
physical Missyfits team rally winning the Alamo City Rollergirls
championship Sunday night 102-93.

The Missyfits would open up the bout with a huge opening period jam
as Heidi Explosive would score 14 points and the team in black would
take a 14-0 lead. In the sixth jam, Heidi would score 8 points and
move the Missyfits lead up to 15 points. However the Dragon Divas
would outscore their opponents 11-4 in the last five jams narrowing
the Missyfits lead to 43-35.

Then the Divas would come out and take over the second period and
outscore the team in black 49-15. Miss Treater would score eight
points in the third jam of the period as the Dragon Divas would take
their first lead of the game, 50-47. In the seventh jam Mummy
Dearest would score 11 points while the red team's defense would shut
out the Missyfits taking a 69-52 lead. Killa Byte would throw in a
six point jam with a couple of minutes left in the period, and at the
end of the second period the Divas would be up 84-58.

In a lot of ways the bout appeared out of reach of the Missyfits, but
they didn't seem to know that since in the first three jams of the
final period they would outscore the Dragon Divas 15-0 with seven
point jams by Ruby Wring and Heidi Explosive. However in the fourth
jam of the period Killa Byte would strike back during a jam without a
lead jammer scoring 12 points to The Missyfits 6 points. The
comeback was thwarted and the team in red would move the score up to
20 points with two minutes left in the game.

Osa Peligrosa would jam for the team in black and Mummy Dearest would
jam for the Dragon Divas. Mummy would receive her fourth minor early
in the jam and the question became could Osa score enough points
before time ran out. While she scored 11 points, there just wasn't
enough time left in the game as the clock ran out with the Divas
victorious 102-93.

The leading scorers for the Dragon Divas, unofficially, were Mummy
Dearest with 31 points, Killa Byte and Skullyvera with 25 points, and
Miss Treater with 21. Their top blockers included Raina Fury, The
Hammer, Miss Treater, Killa Byte, and Wreckin' Belle.

The leading scorer for the game was The Missyfit Heidi Explosive with
an unofficial 37 points. Ruby Wring added 25 points for the team in
black and purple with Osa Peligrosa scoring 15 points, and Hollow
Point adding 10. Top blockers for the Missyfits included Osa
Peligrosa, Kitty Glitter, Dita Gone Rotten, and Dejeneraton X.

The Missyfits were the most improved team in Alamo City this year,
and would outscore the Dragon Divas in two of the periods. But a
huge second period would win the game for the Dragon Divas, and
sometime around 9:15 last night, the Divas had begun celebrating
their championship victory.
